Marriage Seminar: Becoming Soul Mates

Are you ready to transform your relationship? Saturday, October 27 ~ 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Worthington Christian Church Tickets are $25/person
(our leadership would like as many couples to attend as possible, so we will cover the cost of one ticket per couple. Total cost per couple would be $25 plus lunch on your own.) Consider this highly acclaimed seminar as your road map to doing just that. And think of Les Parrott as your guide. He is entertaining, thought-provoking and immeasurably practical. One minute you'll be laughing and the next you'll sit still in silence as they open your eyes on how you can make your relationship all it was meant to be. "Becoming Soul Mates" is a one-day marriage seminar for everyone newlyweds, long married couples, seriously dating or engaged who wants to learn the keys to making a bad relationship good or a good relationship great! The reality-in-marriage message is simple, sensible and can be applied to couples of all ages. Deadline to register is Sunday, October 14th. Contact Brad if you are interested in attending.

THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

I want to encourage the parents of all our elementary children to get their kids actively involved in the childrens ministry of FACC. If you make their music, sports and school functions important, how much more then should the church be a priority? Hannah and our volunteers will work hard to provide not only quality Biblical education but a fun-filled atmosphere that they will enjoy. This is the perfect time to get your children and their friends actively involved here. Be sure to look weekly at Hannahs column to see what is coming in the near future. Let me also encourage our couples to consider participating in the Marriage Conference on October 27th from 9-3 in Worthington. Its going to be a great seminar so the Elders and I have slashed the cost in half for our couples to participate. Please see Brad right away to get signed up. Total cost is $25, plus lunch. In His Service, Brad

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

WELCOME: I want to welcome Hannah Martin to our church staff. Hannah is, of course, serving as our Director of Childrens Ministries. I, also, want to encourage all my senior friends to prayerfully support Hannah. Please pray for her safety as she travels each weekend. (Think of her as one of your grandchildren.) BOB EVANS FARM DAYS: This annual event is held near Jackson, on the original farm. We plan to attend this festival on Friday, October 12. We will be departing at 8:00 AM and returning in the late afternoon. The cost for transportation and admission is $9.00 per person. (Payable when you sign up.) Those attending will assume responsibility for their lunch on the grounds. A sign-up sheet is posted.
SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY:

SCOTTS THOUGHTS
Outreach requires a certain mindset for it to be effective. Philippians 2:3-4 sets forth the attitude we are to have as Christ followers: dont be selfish; dont try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Dont look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. It is entirely too easy to allow our flesh to control our thinking. This tendency toward selfishness can cause us to look inwardly instead of reaching outwardly to impact the world around us for Christ. Sometimes we are even a little frightened of what our church might look like if outreach becomes effective. What will the newcomers look like? Will they dress like us? What music will they like? All of these concerns are normal and natural, but we have been given a new nature that calls us to see people in need of Christ and find opportunities to share the gospel, then let God make the changes in us and in them from the inside out. Lord, remind us how lost we are without you and help us to see the urgency in seeking the lost so they too might find salvation in Christ.

Our goal, currently, is to explore the book of II Corinthians. This week, the message is The Quest for Peace Of Mind (II Corinthians 2:12-17). Next weeks theme is Can Christians Be Both Humble And Confident? (II Cor. 3:1-6). If you are not involved in a small group, on Sunday evenings, I encourage you to join us.
WEDNESDAYS: This week we will continue our study on The Church Through The Centuries. I do invite you to join us for the 10:00 AM or 6:30 PM sessions. FINAL THOUGHT: Theres a brand new invention for those people who want to relax in an atmosphere of quiet tranquility. Its a phoneless cord.

Library Spotlight
When You Believe The Miraculous Story of Moses from Scripture is a book for elementary readers. Selected scriptures provide the moving account of Moses life and how God used him to deliver the Israelites from slavery. This is an inspirational telling of the story of Moses that the entire family will enjoy. Matthews Story by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins is a book for adults. This story in the Jesus Chronicles series depicts the life of the most unlikely of apostles a sinner turned saint and his time with the Lord. Thrilling and uplifting, Matthews Story shows how the true Messiah changed the life of one man, and forever altered the course of history. Stop by the library and check out a good book!

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:

Sermon Notes ________________________

________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ _______________________________________ ______________________________________

Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
