Wilderness First Aid
REI is collaborating with the Wilderness Medicine
Institute of NOLS to offer a comprehensive 2-day
course teaching the wilderness medicine skills
needed to recreate with confidence in the
backcountry. Successful completion results in a
Wilderness Medicine Institute of NOLS Wilderness
First Aid certification.

Hiking the Appalachian Trail
Hostelling International-Austin's volunteer travel
educator Erin Leggett, is fresh off the trail and
excited to share with you her experiences during this
epic hike. Class will conclude with a 15 minute boot
fitting demo by an REI Footwear Specialist.

Outdoor Photography Basics: Point
& Shoot
In this 2-hour class an REI Outdoor School instructor
will introduce composition techniques and demystify
some camera functions. Learn how to eliminate
distractions, use line and texture and the Rule of
Thirds to create more dynamic images. Begin to see
beyond your primary subject so that every feature in
the frame improves the image and draws the
viewers attention into a vibrant and stimulating
photography. These classes are open to digital and
film photographers of all experience levels.

Mamma Jamma Bike Ride
The Texas Mamma Jamma Ride is a recreational bike
ride to raise much needed funds for our central
Texas neighbors coping with breast cancer. The
Mamma Jamma Ride welcomes all levels and
celebrates all participants. It's a ride for the whole
family, with route distances for everyone! Join us

Brooks Nightlife Demo: Run into
Night
Join Brooks at REI Downtown for an outdoor product
demo and try out some of the new Nightlife clothing
options from Brooks. The product line is specifically
designed to help you be seen while out on a run and
increase your visibility while running near traffic. Put
on your finest active wear and join the night owls for
an evening of Brooks Nightlife wear-testing, safety
education, and a chance to win prizes! Brooks
Footwear Guru's will be on site to give tips to
improve your visibility and help you get prepared for
Fall and Winter running.

Join the San Antonio team as they introduce the REI

Coastal Carolina Sea Kayaking
Coastal Carolina barrier islands provide some
of the most spectacular wilderness
ecosystems in the country, teeming with
diverse wildlife and untouched shorelines.
Capers Island Heritage Preserve will serve as
our ocean front base camp on this expedition
style weekend paddle, as we explore miles of
undeveloped beachfront and over 8000
acres of pristine maritime forest.
