Total Pts:
Section 1 - You will need to create a title for your magazine that is short, catchy, and appropriate for your magazines theme. Your title should not exceed more than 2 or 3 words. Your title page must include the title you have chosen and a picture/illustration that depicts the title and theme. Section 2 - Special Report (narrative writing- short story) Create an event that is so newsworthy and so important to the theme of your magazine that it will not only include a lengthy report, but also a catchy title, photographs/pictures, and possibly charts, graphs, timelines. Remember, this is a fictitious event, but you will be reporting it as FACT. Your report needs to include dialogue, sensory details, figurative language, and a conclusion that logically follows the event. A science magazine might include a special report on an ongoing situation such as global warming, while a music magazine might include a special report on the death of a superstar. Section 3 Profiles and Interviews (informative writing) - Choose to write either a profile or an interview about a specific incident in a persons life that directly relates to your theme. Profiles are third-person accounts that provide personal or professional information about an intriguing person who has a story which directly relates to the theme of your magazine. An interview is written in a question and answer format. Remember, this person and the event is fictitious; you, however, are writing the article as FACT. Be sure you present the incident in an organized fashion with a sequence that unfolds logically.

Section 4 New Products (informative writing) - Your magazine will include 2 advertisements promoting 2 new products which directly relate to the theme of your magazine. Your advertisements will need to sell the new product by grabbing the consumers attention using slogans, logos, etc. to appeal to the consumer. Your ad should include both words and pictures. Shorty catchy phrases are more effective than long, complex sentences. Be sure to inform the buyer but using cause/effect, compare/contrast, concrete details and other important information. Section 5 Adding Some Fun - Your magazine needs to include 2 fun activities: crossword puzzles, riddles, jokes, comics, games, etc. Remember, even the fun activities need to relate to your theme.
