THE 4TH ANNUAL CAMBRIDGE APPLE FESTIVAL

FOURTH ANNUAL APPLE FESTIVAL organized by the Cambridge Valley Chamber of Commerce, is set for October 6. This years event will include apple pie contests, games, crafts, food, vendors, music, a communitywide tag sale, and sidewalk sales. Everyone is invited to come to Cambridge, NY and join the fun in Railroad Park (next to the Cambridge Hotel) and in the Historic Cambridge Freight Yard (behind Hubbard Hall). These adjacent parks are accessible from Main Street (Route 372), Washington Street and Broad Street. APPLE PIE CONTESTS. Cambridge is known to be the home of Apple Pie ala Mode and to celebrate this claim to fame, two contests featuring Cambridges signature dessert, will highlight the days events. The Apple Pie Bake-off. Enter your favorite recipe and two homemade pies, which will be judged separately by the public and a panel of celebrities. There is no cost to enter this year. The winning baker will win a $50 gift certificate good at any Chamber business. There will be prizes for the second and third place winners as well. Public sampling of the pies will take place in Railroad Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is a small fee to taste the pies and vote. The public tasting will narrow the field to five pies for the panel of celebrities. Judging of the finalists will take place at 3 p.m. with the grand prize winner being announced at 4 p.m. The bakeoff is open to amateur bakers only no professionals or chefs, please. Registration information and competition rules are available online at www.cambridgenychamber.com, or by calling the Chamber at 518-677-0887. For those who love to eat apple pie, the Apple Pie-eating Contest is the event to enter! This hands-free competition is messy fun for those watching as well as those participating. The first person to completely finish a whole pie with ice cream (without using hands) is the winner. Register to enter the eating contest at the Chambers Apple Festival booth anytime after 10 a.m. This year we will have a childrens event (3-9 years old) with smaller pies at 3 p.m. and the adult event (10 and older) will start at 3:30 p.m. COMMUNITYWIDE TAG SALE, SIDEWALK SALES & VENDORS planned in conjunction with the Apple Festival. Chamber businesses have set up sidewalk sales as well and vendor spaces are available in both parks. In addition to the merchandise vendors, several food vendors will have apple-themed treats for sale, along with lunch items. The Chamber will be selling slices of apple pie a la mode beginning at 2 p.m. Vendors are welcome. Preregistration is required. 14th Annual Country Classic Car Show Goes Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness Saturday October 6th
Classic and antique cars will be on display in Washington Square in the Village of Greenwich on Saturday October 6th. The cars will be participating in the 14th Annual Country Classic Car Show. This year the Country Classic Car Show is partnering with Glens Falls Hospital and Greenwich Downtown Merchants in the Greenwich Goes Pink event. Glens Falls Hospital will be sponsoring activities during the car show that will provide information on breast cancer awareness, screening, and prevention. Washington Square will be closed to traffic and parking during the show. Free registration begins at 8:00AM. First come best spots! Show runs 9 to 3 with awards at 2:30. The participants will be competing for one of twenty five plaques and two trophies which will be awarded at 2:30pm. A panel of judges will be selecting the twenty five winners and there will be Mayors choice awards for the best truck and best car selected by Greenwich Mayor David Doonan. Oldies music will be provided by Colin J. Country Boy DJ . The Country Classic Car show goes pink for breast cancer awareness Saturday October 6th!
