First steps
Basic Bluewin TV functions
The Bluewin TV remote control can be used to operate the Bluewin TV box and the television. To do this, you need to synchronize the remote control with the TV first (see Remote control, page 98). POWER button, and the Following synchronization, the TV can be switched on and off using the TV MODE and AV buttons work. Without synchronization, the TV controls can only be operated with the normal remote control. The Bluewin TV box controls are operated separately using the Bluewin TV remote control.

Switching on Bluewin TV

Make sure that the power supply to the Bluewin TV box and the DSL modem is on. Press TV MODE and then the POWER button to switch the TV on.

Press the SBT button and then the POWER button to switch the Bluewin TV box on. You now have all the Bluewin TV functions at your disposal.

Note: If you don't get any picture, make sure that your TV is set to the right input channel (e.g. AV, AV1 or HDMI). Note: You can receive two channels at the same time (see page 11). If you switch on the television while two programmes are being recorded, you will go directly to one of the channels on which a programme is currently being recorded. You have the following options: > You can stay on this channel (in this case: Stay on 91 BBC 2 ) and continue to watch the programme which you are recording. You can also rewind and watch the programme from the start. or > You can watch any recorded programme you like. Switch to the recording channel by selecting Recorded TV . or > You can switch the channel by selecting Recorded TV and stopping one of the programmes currently being recorded.

Switching off Bluewin TV

Press POWER to switch off the Bluewin TV box (hibernate mode). The ON/OFF button on the Bluewin TV box lights up red. All scheduled recordings are guaranteed to be performed in this mode. Press TV MODE and then the POWER button to switch the TV off (hibernate mode).

Saving energy
In order to save energy, you can switch the Bluewin TV box and the DSL modem off completely by flicking the switch on the back of the appliance or by switching it off at the socket. Attention: If the Bluewin TV box or DSL modem are switched off completely, no programmes will be recorded, and the screen aspect ratio settings will be lost. When you switch the Bluewin TV box and the DSL modem back on, the Bluewin TV functions are restored in full after a start-up time of a few minutes. Software updates are conducted periodically after startup.

Volume control
Turning the volume up or down
Press the VOLUME buttons to turn the sound up or down. The current volume is displayed on the screen. This display disappears again after a few seconds. Note: The volume can be regulated separately on the TV and on the Bluewin TV box. If the volume cannot be set satisfactorily on the Bluewin TV box (i.e. if it is too high or too low), adjust it on the TV. To do this, set it at a medium volume (around 13) on Bluewin TV. > Once you have synchronized the Bluewin TV remote control with the TV (see page 98), press TV MODE and set the volume to a level that suits you using the VOLUME buttons on the TV. Then press the STB MODE button to operate the Bluewin TV box by remote control again. > If you use separate remote controls for the TV and for the Bluewin TV box, set the volume of the TV to a level that suits you using the TV remote control. You can now regulate the volume using the Bluewin TV remote control.

Switching the sound on and off


Press MUTE to switch the sound off. The Mute symbol appears on the screen. This display disappears again after a few seconds. Press MUTE again to switch the sound back on.

Menu
The MENU button takes you to the main menu from which you can operate all the Bluewin TV functions. Some menu options can be called up directly from the remote control using specific buttons (see page 99 for further details).

Navigating within the menu


Press the MENU button to go to the main menu. Select a menu option with the left/ right buttons. Based on the arrows ( Video on Demand here) you can tell where you are in the menu.

Select a submenu using the up/down buttons. The area marked in red indicates which menu option you have activated ( Browse films ). Press OK to open the relevant submenu. The areas marked in blue have not been selected ( Current rentals , Search and Order number ). However, they can be selected using the arrow buttons, similar to the menu of a DVD.

The BACK button always takes you to the higher-level menu or to the previous menu option (from the Video on Demand to the main menu here). Press the EXIT TO TV button to exit the menu and return to the last programme watched (channel, recorded TV or video on demand). The PROGRAMME buttons allow you to navigate more quickly within lists.

Help
Press Help to access the Help area on your Bluewin TV box at any time. Help comprises answers to frequently asked questions, current tips and informative help videos about problems you may have with Bluewin TV. Help enables you to check how to view current live events or to extend a scheduled recording manually, for example. Tip The help videos give you a quick overview of the most important functions of Bluewin TV.

Watching TV
Changing TV channel
There are several ways to switch channels with Bluewin TV.

Channel-hopping
Press the PROGRAMME buttons to zap backwards or forwards through the channels. The channel and the name of the current programme appear at the bottom of the screen. This display disappears again after a few seconds.

Note: If the TV picture is too small in widescreen format (16:9) or in HD format (in HD-ready televisions), use the zoom function in Bluewin TV in order to adapt the picture size (see page 89).

Picture-in-picture function
Using the up/down buttons, you can temporarily open a small window in the bottom section of the screen. This enables you to scroll through the different channels without having to change channels straight away. If you feel like watching a programme on another channel, press OK to switch over to it.

Showing what's on now and later on a channel


Use the left/right buttons to scroll forwards and backwards through the forthcoming programmes on the channel which is shown in the bottom section of the screen (BBC 1). The name and time of the programmes are displayed. Press the OK button to view more detailed programme information.

Changing to the last channel you watched


Press RECENT to jump between the current channel and the previous channel you watched. (This button does not work if the TV Guide or the menu are open.)

Changing channel while you are recording TV plus only


You can receive two channels at the same time. In other words, > If you are recording one programme, you can watch TV on any other channel or watch a rented movie at the same time. > If you are recording two programmes at the same time, you can only watch one of the two programmes that you are recording or a saved recording. You cannot watch a programme on a third channel or a rented movie. If you are recording two programmes, one of which is being streamed live, and you try to switch over to a third channel, you have the following options: > You can remain on the channel (in this case, Stay on 91 BBC 2 ) and continue to watch the programme which you are recording. or > Select Recorded TV to change to the recording channel and to watch either of the programmes being recorded. or > You can switch the channel by selecting Recorded TV and stopping one of the programmes currently being recorded. If the scheduled recording of two programmes starts while you are watching a third channel, a message appears: > Select Recorded TV to change to the recording channel and to watch either of the programmes being recorded. or > You can switch the channel by selecting Recorded TV and stopping one of the programmes currently being recorded. or > Select Try again . As soon as either of the two recordings has finished, you can watch any channel.

TV timeshift TV plus only


Bluewin TV (TV plus only) contains a hard-disk recorder. While you are watching TV, the current channel is continuously being buffered in the background. The advantage of this is that you can interrupt the programme you are watching at any time by pressing PAUSE and/or rewind with the REW button. It only keeps buffering while you remain on that channel. As soon as you switch to a different channel, the buffer is deleted, and the new channel starts to be buffered.

Pause a current programme with the Pause button TV plus only

Press PAUSE to interrupt the current programme for a few seconds or minutes. The light colored bar, which gets longer over time, indicates that the programme is being saved. Attention: As soon as you switch channel, the recording is stopped and deleted.

Press

PAUSE again if you wish to resume watching the programme that you have paused.

Fast-forwarding and rewinding through the recording TV plus only


You can fast-forward and rewind through a programme that you have recorded using the and FF buttons . The REPLAY button enables you to go back 7 seconds, and the 30 seconds. REW

SKIP buttons takes you forward

The light colored bar which appears automatically tells you where you are in the recording.

Special channels
Recorded TV programmes, movie rentals and live events are played on separate channels. These channels are listed in the TV Guide. They are located at the end of the TV Guide as standard. To access it quickly, press the button and select the channel you require using the up button. Select the channel: > Live 1, Live 2 etc. for live events > Recorded TV (TV plus only) for the TV recordings menu (TV plus only) > Browse films for the Video on Demand menu Press the OK button to switch over to the corresponding channel.

Note: If one or more recordings (TV plus only) or rented movies have already started, the name of the last recording or rented movie started is displayed.

Locked channels and programmes


If the parental-control function is enabled (see page 68), entire channels or individual programmes can be locked. This is indicated on the screen by a large padlock. A locked programme can only be unlocked by entering a PIN. The default parental-control PIN is 0000. This can be changed to any combination (see page 67).

Unlocking a programme

Press the

OK button.

Enter the correct four-digit PIN.

Select Unlock this programme and press OK to confirm.

Note: If a channel is locked, entering the PIN only unlocks the current programme. As soon as a new programme begins, you have to enter the PIN again.

Teletext
Teletext is available as normal in Bluewin TV. The Teletext functions can be controlled using the Bluewin TV remote control. Note: The Teletext buttons on your TV remote control will not work.

Using Teletext

Press the TELETEXT button to open Teletext. Teletext appears against a black background.

Press the TELETEXT button a second time to make Teletext appear with the current TV picture as a background.

Press the Teletext.

EXIT TO TV button to close

Quick access with colored buttons


You can call up color-coded topics in Teletext directly by pressing the corresponding color of button ( , , or ) on your remote control.

Subtitles for the hearing-impaired


If a programme in the TV Guide is marked with the symbol for people with hearing impairments, this indicates that Teletext subtitles are available for it.

Press the

TELETEXT button to open Teletext.

Call up the page containing Teletext subtitles for people with hearing impairments. This is page 777 for SF, tsr and tsi. The text appears along the bottom of the screen if the programme is available with subtitles.

Note: Should you wish to switch over while the subtitles are activated, you will need to deactivate Teletext again. Tip (TV plus only) If Teletext subtitles are available, they are also copied automatically. When you watch a recorded programme, the subtitles are switched on in the same way as they are with a live programme.

Finding what you'd like to watch


TV Guide
The TV Guide is an electronic programme listing guide on your TV. It contains all the channels and scheduled recordings (TV plus only) for the forthcoming days. The TV Guide also offers direct access to live events, programmes you have recorded (TV plus only) and movie rentals.

Finding and selecting programmes

Press the

TV GUIDE button to call up the TV Guide.

Current programmes have a brighter appearance. You can use the up/down buttons to navigate vertically through the channels and left/right to navigate horizontally through the transmission times. The name and starting time of the programme which is currently selected (Doctors) appear in the bottom section of the screen. Tip The PROGRAMME buttons allow you to navigate more quickly within lists. Press the OK button

> If the programme has already started, you are taken straight to relevant channel; the TV Guide disappears. > If the programme has not started yet, the Programme Info page appears (see page 19).

Calling up your Favourites List using the Favourites button


If you don't want to have to browse through all the channels in the TV Guide every time, you can create a Favourites List only containing channels which are of interest to you. Press the FAVORITES button to call up the your Favourites List. You can find out how to create your Favourites List on page 85.

The Programme information page

Press the INFO button to call up the Programme information page. This also works for programmes which have already started or which you are currently watching. You have the following options on the Programme information page: > Press the left/right buttons to navigate through the submenus (e.g. Details , Abstract , Cast & Crew ). > Select Watch to switch over to the relevant channel during a live programme (this menu option does not appear when the programme is transmitted in future). > Select Record (TV plus only) to record the programme (if it is currently on) or to schedule recording it (if the programme is not on yet). Press BACK to return to the TV Guide.

The options button in the TV Guide


Press the OPTIONS button to call up a menu with additional functions in the TV Guide. Navigate through the menu options using the left/right buttons:

> Going directly to the TV Guide for this evening or this week.

> Going directly to the TV Guide for the following week.

> Calling up or managing your Favourites List.

> Changing the appearance of the TV Guide (listing programmes by time or channel, see page 80).

Favourites list
If you don't want to have to browse through all the channels in the TV Guide every time, you can also create a Favourites List in which only your favorite channels appear. No channels are deleted all the channels are still listed in the TV Guide. Press the FAVORITES button to call up the your Favorites List. It works just like the TV Guide (see page 18).

Note: If you have not set up a Favorites List yet, you will be asked whether you wish to do so. Press OK to confirm. You can find out how to set up or edit your Favorites List on page 85.

Search
The search function allows you to do a keyword search by programme, movie to rent or actor.

Searching for programmes, movies to rent or actors

Press SEARCH and enter your search term (name of a programme, movie to rent or actor). Select the individual letters using the arrow buttons and press OK to confirm each one. The list of results is continuously updated. Note: Press the the last letter. DELETE button to delete

Choose the required entry using the arrow buttons (Animal Park) and press OK to confirm.

Confirm the selection with the OK button or select the requested programme if there are multiple selection options (in the case of series, for instance). Press OK to confirm.

The detailed information about your chosen programme appears. > Select Watch to switch over to the relevant channel during a live programme (this menu option does not appear when the programme is transmitted in future). > Select Record (TV plus only) to record the programme (if it is currently on) or to schedule recording it (if the programme is not on yet).

Use the OPTIONS button to refine the list of search results. Select: > Titles if you are only searching for programmes, > Video on Demand if you are searching movies to rent, or > People to only display actors.

TV plus only

Bluewin TV plus includes a hard-disk recorder and enables you to record and play back programmes and series.

Useful information TV plus only


> You can record two programmes at the same time. If you are recording two programmes at the same time, unrestricted switching between channels is not possible (see page 10). > For legal reasons, certain channels do not permit you to record their output. In this case, a message appears on the screen. > Recordings remain saved until such time as the memory capacity on the Bluewin TV box is used up. The recordings are then deleted on a first in first out basis. Recordings which are soon due to be deleted are marked in the TV recordings menu by an ( ) exclamation mark. If you want to prevent individual recordings from being deleted, you can archive them (see page 46). Tip If Teletext subtitles are available, they are also copied automatically. When you watch a recorded programme, the subtitles are switched on in the same way as they are with a live programme (see page 17).

Recording a programme which is currently on TV plus only

Press the

RECORD button.

Programme being recorded appears on the screen and REC appears on the Bluewin TV box. Note: If you press RECORD to record a programme which is currently on, the recording automatically finishes at the end of the programme.

Checking whether a programme is being recorded TV plus only


There are several ways of checking whether a programme is being recorded: > If REC lights up on the TV box, this indicates that something is being recorded. > Press the TV GUIDE button to call up the TV Guide. If a programme is marked with a red dot , it is being recorded. > Switch over to the channel on which you wish to record something and press INFO to open the Programme Info page. Is there is a red dot visible beside the name of the current programme, it is being recorded. > If you see a red dot beside the programme information in the bottom section of the screen whenever you switch over using the PROGRAMME buttons or using the picture-in-picture function, this indicates that the programme is being recorded.

Canceling recording TV plus only


Recording stops automatically at the end of the programme. However, you can also stop it manually:

Switch over to the channel on which the recording is running and press STOP. You are asked whether you really wish to stop recording. Select Stop recording and press OK to confirm.

Setting up the recording of a programme before it begins TV plus only


You can schedule a programme in advance using the TV Guide, the Programme Info page or manually.

Recording a programme using the TV Guide TV plus only

Press the the TV Guide.

TV GUIDE button to call up

Select the required programme and press RECORD. Confirmation appears. A red dot beside the programme indicates that the programme is scheduled to record.

Note: If three overlapping red dots appear, this indicates that you have pressed the RECORD button twice and selected series recording (see page 31). If you didn't intend to do this, press RECORD again to cancel the recording. The three red dots disappear. Press RECORD again to record the individual programme. A single red dot appears.

Note: If you have already scheduled two programmes to record at the same time, this conflict is indicated (see page 36).

The list of results is continuously updated. Select the required entry using the arrow buttons (e.g. Animal Park) and press OK to confirm.

Detailed information about the requested programme appears on the screen. Select Record and press OK to confirm.

Recording a programme manually (manual programming) TV plus only


If a programme is not listed in the TV Guide yet, it can be programmed manually.

Press the RECORDINGS button to open the Recordet TV menu. Select Add recording by pressing the right button. Select Entering channel and time and press OK to confirm.

Enter the number of the channel from which you wish to record a programme.

Press the down button. The menu displays the current date. If you wish to change the date, press OK.

Choose the date you require and press OK to confirm.

Press the down button to get to the starting time menu. Enter the numbers for the time you require - . Press the right button to get to the next field. Press OK to confirm.

Press the down button to get to the Keep until menu. The recording mode is set such that recordings are deleted as soon as memory capacity is required (see page 46). Press the OK button to change this setting.

Recording a series TV plus only


You can schedule a series to record at the times it is broadcast on the channel (daily or weekly).

Defining the frequency and duration of a series recording TV plus only


If there is more than one episode of a series shown every day, or if the episodes of a series are transmitted at different times of the day or days of the week, you can change the time and frequency of the series recording. This may be useful because you cannot record more than two programmes at once (see page 11). If, for example, an episode of a series which goes out in the prime time slot is repeated later on in the evening, you can schedule it to record in this later slot and record something else during prime time. Follow steps

1-2 in the section Recording a series (see page 31).

Time and frequency TV plus only


Should you wish to record a series with a different frequency, select Any day, around in the Time menu and press OK. You now have the following options:

> Select Any day, around... if you always wish to record the episodes of a series (daily or weekly) at the same time. > Select Any day, anytime if you wish to record the episodes of a series at irregular times of the day or days of the week and/or a number of times a day/week. Every episode of a series is recorded, regardless of what time it is broadcast at. > Select Any day, anytime, once per day if you wish to record the episodes of a series at irregular times of the day or days of the week and/or a number of times a day/week. Only one episode is recorded every day.

Reruns TV plus only


In order to decide whether or not to record reruns, select First run and rerun in the Show type menu and press OK. You have the following options:

> Select First run and rerun in order to record reruns and press OK to confirm. > Select First run only so as not to record reruns and press OK to confirm.

Stop recording TV plus only

In the Stop recording menu select At scheduled time and press OK.

Select when you wish to stop recording and press OK.

Remote programming TV plus only


If you are not at home, you can also set up programmes to be recorded via the Internet or by mobile phone. Remote programming by mobile phone only works if you have a Swisscom NATEL subscription.

Enable remote programming prior to first use TV plus only


> Should you wish to programme recordings from a remote location via the Internet or by mobile phone, enable the service the Customer Center first of all. > This is done by logging in to the Customer Center area of www.swisscom.ch/login (follow steps 1-3 on page 59). > Enable this service in www.swisscom.ch/login > Bluewin Internet > Bluewin Services > Bluewin TV Guide > Settings. > Should you wish to programme recordings from a remote location by mobile phone, also enter your Swisscom mobile phone number.

Programming recordings via the Internet TV plus only


> Choose the programme you wish to record via www.swisscom.ch > bluewin.ch > TV Guide. > You require your Bluewin e-mail address and your password for remote programming (the same password you use to log in to the Customer Center).

Programming recordings by mobile phone TV plus only


> Open Vodafone Live! > More ... > Bluewin TV in the menu for your mobile phone. You can manage which programmes you wish to record here. > If your mobile phone does not have the Vodafone Live! menu option but does have WAP capability, you can text epg to 888. You will then receive a text from 888 with a link to the Bluewin TV Mobile TV Guide. Select this link and connect to the Mobile TV Guide via the Internet. You can now manage which programmes you wish to record. Note: Save the text message and link for further remote programming. If you delete the text, you can always request the link again by texting 888.

Scheduled recordings TV plus only


Scheduled recordings are individual programmes or episodes of a series which have been set up for recording. Scheduled recordings can be active or inactive. You can record two programmes at the same time with Bluewin TV plus. If you have already set up two programmes to record at the same time and then wish to record a third programme, this gives rise to a recording conflict. A message appears to this effect. You have to decide which two of the three programmes you wish to record. If, for instance, you wish to record the new programme, you have to deactivate one of the other programmes which have been set up to record. A scheduled recording which has been deactivated is indicated by a red dot with a cross through it (three red dot with crosses through them in the TV Guide and in the list of scheduled recordings indicate a scheduled series recording which has been deactivated). Scheduled recordings can be activated again or deleted permanently at any time until they are aired.

The Bluewin TV box only has space for a limited number of recordings. If the memory capacity is used up, recordings are deleted automatically, with the oldest recordings deleted first. Recordings which are soon due to be deleted are marked in the Recorded TV menu by an ( ) exclamation mark. If you want to prevent certain recordings from being deleted, you can archive them. An archived recording is retained in the memory until it is deleted manually.

Renting movies and live events


Renting movies
Bluewin TV offers your a regularly changing selection of movies which you can rent for 24 hours. Instead of having to go to your local video shop, you can look for a movie to rent via the TV screen and even preview the movie free of charge before renting it. You can watch a movie as often as you wish during the rental period. However, it will be deleted from the memory once the rental period expires, irrespective of whether or not you have watched it.

Renting a movie via the Video on Demand menu

Use the right/left buttons to choose the language (e.g. menu option Deutsch ). Choose a genre and, if there are any, a subgenre (Movie and Action & Spannung) and press OK each time.

A list with all the movies available to rent in this genre appears. Select a movie or change genre using the left/right buttons. If you find a movie which you wish to rent, select it (Bad Boys 2) and press OK. Note: If you press SEARCH, you can carry out a search by movie title or by name of an actor (see page 22).

Parental control and cost control


Two different PINs
The parental-control function allows you to restrict access to certain programmes, movies or channels using a PIN. If the purchase-locking function is enabled, pay-per-view programmes or movie rentals can only be rented using the PIN. The parent-control and purchase-locking functions are enabled or managed using two different PINs.

Parental-control PIN
The parental-control PIN allows you to manage all the parental-control functions (see pages 6874). The default parental-control PIN is 0000; you may change it to any number you like.

Purchase PIN
You can use the purchase PIN to enable and manage the purchase-locking function (see pages 7576) and the cost limit (see page 77). Choose your own purchase PIN. The first time you use the purchaselocking function you are prompted to enter a PIN of you own choice.

If you have forgotten a PIN, you can change it at any time in the Swisscom Customer Center under www.swisscom.ch/login > Bluewin TV > Settings > PIN > Disable all PINs. Otherwise call us toll-free on 0800 800 800.

Parental-control function
The parental-control function allows you to avoid children or teenagers gaining access to particular channels, programmes or movies, or managing to rent them. The parental-control PIN (see page 67) allows you to enable and manage the parental-control function. If the parental control is activated, locked programmes or movies will only be accessible to people who know the PIN. Locked programmes or movies do not appear through the picture-in-picture function or as a menu background either. A locked programme or series can be recorded as normal (TV plus only), however it can only be played using the PIN. Note: You can either define these settings through the TV or by computer in the Customer Center (see page 78).

Select Change in the Age limitation for Video on Demand line and press OK to confirm.

This means that if you lock movies with age ratings above 12, all movies with ratings of 16 or 18 are also locked automatically. You can either define these settings by computer in the Customer Center or through the TV.

Displaying and hiding TV channels in the Customer Center


In order to set the order in which the TV channels appear, log in to the Customer Center first of all (follow steps 1-3 on page 59).

Click Channel settings in the navigation on the left. Click Change under tv channels to call up the list of the channels in the TV Guide.

Uncheck the channels you wish to delete from the TV Guide and check the channels which you wish to appear in the TV Guide. Click Store changes.

Note: If you would like the channel to appear in the TV Guide, press the OK button a second time. This makes the check mark appear again.

Note: If you enable Mark all , all the available unchecked channels are reassigned check marks. This means that all the channels in the TV Guide are displayed again. If you select Show unmarked , only the unchecked stations are displayed.

Click Channel settings in the navigation on the left. Click Change under TV channel sequence to call up the list of TV channels.

Click the channel that you wish to move. Move the channel by > clicking the buttons with the arrow symbol: and allow you to move the channel up or down one place, and allow you to move the channel up or down ten places. > enter the required position in the Position box and click Assign. Click Store changes.

Tip Click print the sequence of TV stations to print out a list of the channels.

TV GUIDE button to open the TV Guide.

Press the OPTIONS button and then select the right button to select the Guide style . You have the following options:

> Grid view Overview of what's on for all the channels.

> Channel view Displays what's on for a single channel.

Note: If you briefly wish to switch to the listings for a particular channel, select the channel you require from the overview on the left-hand side of the TV Guide ( 17 caOK. Press BACK to ble 1) and press restore the overview of what's on for all the channels in the TV Guide.

Updating your favourites


If you don't want to have to browse through all the channels in the TV Guide every time, you can also create a Favourites List in which only your favorite channels appear. No channels are deleted all the channels are still listed in the TV Guide.

Changing the screen aspect ratio


Adjust the picture size to the best setting for your TV. Refer to the user guide for your television to find out which is the best aspect ratio for your TV. In the case of HD-ready TVs, you can ascertain the optimum picture size on the basis of the test pattern (see point 5). Choose between the following aspect ratio: > Standard ratio 4:3 > Widescreen ratio 16:9 > for HD-ready televisions, connected with an HDMI cable > HD (720p) > HD (1080i)

Zoom function
If you have a widescreen TV and have adjusted the screen aspect ratio accordingly (16:9 or an HD format in HD-ready TVs, see page 87), you can receive widescreen programmes which will fill the screen. If a TV picture is too small, use the zoom function in Bluewin TV to adjust the size of the picture.

Press the OPTIONS button and then select the You have the following options: > Normal leaves the TV picture as it currently is. > Stretch Adjusts the TV picture to the width of the screen. The picture may become distorted. > Zoom 1 to Zoom 3 enlarge the TV picture without distorting the picture.

Select Zoom 1, Zoom 2 or Zoom 3 depending on which zoom factor you require and press OK to confirm. The TV picture is adapted.

Attention: Only use the zoom function in Bluewin TV. If you enlarge the zoom function for your TV, the Bluewin TV menu is also enlarged and is no longer easy to read.

Managing the subscription


Ordering additional channels
Adapt the Bluewin TV subscription in line with your needs by ordering and managing additional subscription channels. Preselected channels are combined here in packages. They can either be ordered through the TV or online via the Customer Center.

Canceling Bluewin TV or additional channels


Both the Bluewin TV subscription and the additional packages are subject to a minimum contractual term. Once the minimum contractual term has elapsed, you can cancel Bluewin TV or additional packages. If you cancel Bluewin TV or an additional package before the end of the minimum contractual term, you will be asked to pay the amount still owing. Additional Bluewin TV box TV plus only


You can operate Bluewin TV on a second television. For this, you require an additional Bluewin TV box. It is available from the Swisscom Shop or by calling 0800 800 800. The second Bluewin TV box is connected to the modem in precisely the same way as the first one. However, certain functions are not available on the second device for technical reasons: > Recording > TV timeshift This also applies if you have subscribed to Bluewin TV plus. Note (TV plus only): As a standard feature, you can receive two channels at the same time if you have two Bluewin TV boxes (see page 10). If you switch the TV using the second Bluewin TV box while you are already receiving two channels on the other TV (because you are recording two programmes at that moment in time, for example), you cannot watch the second TV. You have the following options: Select Try again . As soon as a channel becomes free (because a programme has finished recording, for example), you can watch any of the channels again on the second TV.

2. Reactivating Bluewin TV
Take time early on to consider where you wish to position the TV in your new home. Should you require longer leads in order to connect the Bluewin TV box to the DSL modem, for example, you can obtain leads and other connection accessories from the Swisscom Shop. Ask for advice about this. You will have to connect Bluewin TV again in your new home. To find out how to connect the different devices using leads, refer to the Bluewin TV Setup guide which you received together with the Bluewin TV box. If you do not wish to set up Bluewin TV and DSL from Swisscom yourself, we would advise you to arrange for a technician to do this for you. Positioning the devices

Remote control
Synchronizing the remote control
If you wish to use this remote control to operate both the Bluewin TV box and your television, you will have to synchronize the remote control with your television. This is done by performing the following steps.

Switch on the television. Press the TV MODE button for at least two seconds until the TV LED on the top of the remote control flashes twice. Press the digit sequence 0 0 1 within five seconds (the TV LED flashes twice to confirm this). Keep the POWER button on the remote control pressed in until the TV switches off. This may take a few minutes. The TV LED flashes during this time. Attention: Release the button as soon as your television switches off.

Show the preview window at the bottom of the screen. PIP BROWSE: Using the picture-in-picture function, browse the channels to see which programmes are currently on. Browse the listings for the current channel to find out what's on later. TV GUIDE: Open and close the electronic TV Guide which contains listings for the next few days. FF within the TV GUIDE: Skip ahead one day. REW within the TV GUIDE: Skip back one day. PAUSE (TV plus only): Pause a live programme or recording (if you wish to answer the phone, for example). Resume watching the programme following the interruption, picking up where you left off. RECORD (TV plus only): Record the current or selected programme in the TV Guide.
