Description:
Alcan Multiplexed Overhead Service and Secondary Cable assemblies consist of one or more insulated conductors and one bare neutral conductor. The cable assembly may be used as a service drop (power pole to service entrance) or as a secondary cable (pole to pole). XLPE insulated cables are rated for 90 C operation.
Neutral:
Cable assemblies are available with any of the following neutral conductors: 1. Stranded All Aluminum (AAC): ASTMB-231 2. Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR): ASTMB-232 3. Aluminum Alloy Conductor 6201 (AAAC): ASTMB-399
Insulated Conductors:
The phase conductors may be either solid or compressed stranded 1350 H-19 (hard drawn) aluminum complying with the following specifications: ASTMB-230: H-19 Round Aluminum Wire ASTMB-231: Stranded 1350 Aluminum Conductor
Assembly:
One or more insulated conductors are twisted around the neutral conductor with a lay length of 25 to 60 times the diameter of one phase conductor. The direction of lay is right hand.
Electrical Testing:
After a one hour immersion in water at room temperature each length of cable, while still immersed, will withstand 2.5 kV AC (60 Hz) phase to ground for one minute.
Insulation:
Insulation is black low density crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) in accordance with ICEA S-76-474.
The cable Assemblies bear the following surface markings of intervals not to exceed 24 inches: Alcan, (Plant of Manufacture), XLPE, (Year of Manufacture).
