1. PROJECT CHARTER PURPOSE

The project charter defines the scope, objectives, and overall approach for the work to be completed. It is a critical element for initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and assessing the project. It should be the single point of reference on the project for project goals and objectives, scope, organization, estimates, work plan, and budget. In addition, it serves as a contract between the Project Team and the Project Sponsors, stating what will be delivered according to the budget, time constraints, risks, resources, and standards agreed upon for the project.

2. PROJECT OVERVIEW
Development of a stair climbing robot with object manipulation capabilities will be a great tool to be used in places where pick and place is very common. The robot will have the capability to pick objects from different altitudes and place them at some other altitudes. The object climbing capability allows climbing up stairs or small obstacles in the path. However, the project is aimed for participation in ABU ROBOCON 2012 which will hold in HongKong next year. The robot has to communicate with other robots as well. In the theme, this robot will climb up a stair, pick up buns placed at different altitudes and place them in the basket present at a different altitude. So this competition provides a much better learning experience and much better testing platform.

3. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

4. ACTIVITIES AND DURATION

Activity Research Phase

Comments Design of the mechanical structure, selecting and experimenting with the electronic products and selecting the best approach st Manufacturing of 1 January 2012 to Design of the mechanical structure takes Mechanical Structure 28th February 2012 time. Hence almost 50 days are required for completion of the complete robot structure Testing And iteration 20th February to 2nd This is the largest phase of the project. It week of May 2012 not only involves testing but also achieving the required tasks. This phase passes through lots of iteration in the robotic design and hence it enters the manufacturing phase again. This process is repeated throughout.

Date 30th November 2011 to 30th December 2011
