September 2012

Worship Service on Sundays at 10 am. My favorite Time of the Year is... the FALL!

For it sorta brings around the promise of new beginnings: of a school year or a new attitude about our work ; a fresh perspective on many daily tasks we face; and hopefully more exciting and promising commitments to our church activities! In early September, we start Sunday School and Youth Fellowships again; Committees get fired up, as our 3 decision-making Boards tackle long agendas; and later that month our annual Old Church Memorial Service will be held. Then in early October we gather together around World Communion and a special Peacemaking Offering; then conclude the month with an emphasis on the Reformed Christian Church and our Presbyterian heritage. Novembers cooler days challenge us to heat up our Stewardship of Time, Talents, & Treasures; and we end the month very Thankfully for all God continues to do in our lives and in our church family! PHEW! Yes, these weeks in the early Fall will have most of us swirling around like those leaves, but these weeks also give us the longest time of the school year without a major Christian holiday! A Perfect Time to begin again, and hopefully even start something new! So, we will! 1.) A new Pastors Thursday morning Bible Study at 9am in the manse; 2.) our 2012 Nominating Committee may begin looking for members to go and find us a permanent Pastor; 3.) at least half of our Sunday School teachers/ Youth leaders will be new to the task; 4.) and we hope to organize a Heritage Committee to gather and better preserve our history and artifact collections(more later). So, I invite you to join us this Fall... and hopefully you too might discover it as a new Season as well. Come back to your Church, for Now is the Time to Worship! See you and your loved ones around our church this Fall Season... my favorite! Pastor Paul Tuttle, Your Interim Pastor

Submitted by Kitty Lamb The Deacons are here to serve, listen and help. If there is a financial need, the Deacons may be able to assist you via the Lillian Robertson Fund. Whatever the need, physical, financial or otherwise, please dont hesitate to contact any Deacon or Jill Stout (church secretary). The following services were provided by the Deacons to benefit and support our church and our community June to August 2012. * Many visitations and cards were bestowed upon our sick and elderly, in addition to meals and baked goods. * Supplies for our kitchen were replenished. * Two (2) prayer shawls were distributed from our Prayer Shawl Ministry. * $1,315.00 was given to needy persons from the Deacons Lillian Robertson Fund. Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22

The Choir Needs You!

Anyone who would like to join the choir (age 14 or older), please come out and join us Wednesday nights. Choir rehearsal will start Wednesday, September 5th at 7:30 pm. If you have any questions feel free to contact Nick Mercado or any choir member. If you feel you cannot commit to every Wednesday for rehearsal, that is ok. We understand that you may not be able to make all rehearsals. If you are worried about reading music, dont. Many in our choir do not read music. Deacons Prayer Shawl Ministry

Submitted by: Faye Crispin The Prayer Shawl Ministry began in 1998 and soon became an international mission as folks lovingly donated their time and talents providing shawls to grateful recipients around the globe. The idea for a Prayer Shawl Ministry in our church was brought by Anne Skinner from her church in Vermont 3 years ago and since that time we have given away a total of 68 shawls/lap robes. We are fortunate to have so many crocheters, knitters and even knotters who are willing to be a part of this special program. It has been a busy year for this ministry and since January the Deacons have given away 14 shawls/lap robes to special folks who are in need of a warm hug along with prayers. It might be someone sick, lonely, in mourning, discouraged, or even a new mom. These colorful shawls and lap robes are done with love and the repetitive nature of the work allows time to pray for each recipient. If you know someone who may need a prayer shawl please contact Jennett Stanley or Faye Crispin. Our current inventory consists of 1 shawl and 3 lap robes. Besides knit and crochet; the shawls/robes can be woven, sewn, quilted, machine knitted, knotted, etc. and we welcome anyone who may have the desire to contribute. For more information you can contact Jennett or Faye or visit the website www.shawlministry.com. May God continue to bless our ministry, and especially those who receive our shawls. You created every part of me, knitting me in my Mothers womb. For such handiwork, I praise you. Awesome this great wonder! Psalm 139:13-14

How Does The Prayer Wheel Work?

You can call anyone on the inner wheel and tell them of your need. You can be as specific or vague as you wish. The best time to call is from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. The inner wheel pray-ERs will make the calls to the outer spoke pray-ERs. Every piece of the wheel is important to keep the prayers going! All spokes will get the calls, but only the inner wheel will have to pass the request along. People on the inner wheel will call around and then be responsible for one of the spokes. When passing prayer requests from one member to another if the first person you call is not home, leave a message; and then call another contact on the wheel until you are able to speak directly to someone. Please remember that when requested some prayer concerns may be confidential and should only be shared with the members of the prayer wheel. If the prayer request has not been specified as confidential than the information can be shared with the larger church body. If anyone else is interested in becoming part of the prayer wheel, contact Jennett Stanley, (856) 881-2683.
