Goodrich DB-110 Aerial Reconnaissance Pod

Provides Real-Time
Critical Intelligence for Defense Missions
Businesses within the Goodrich Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR) systems group have been providing advanced electro-optical systems for more than 50 years. From advanced cameras for the U-2 spy plane during the cold war to mission-critical systems on the space shuttle and the Hubble space telescope, Goodrich ISR systems are the eye in the sky for domestic and international military customers. Goodrich systems provide defense customers with the imagery they need for their intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions. DB-110/RAPTOR a rst
Our core sensor technology is the foundation of the DB-110/RAPTOR, the worlds rst tactical day/night reconnaissance system and the most powerful sensor in the market today. With its high-denition imagery at extremely long ranges, the DB-110 reconnaissance pod gives military personnel a critical advantage in defense missions. For example, the system provides real-time high-quality imagery intelligence from long range stand-off to direct target overight, enabling aircrew and imagery analysts to verify targets and conduct mission-related tasks such as battle damage assessment. The DB-110 sensor can be operated autonomously by the pods reconnaissance management system or can be used interactively with aircrew input for new task-entry and target-of-opportunity imaging.

WITH ITS HIGH-DEFINITION IMAGERY AT EXTREMELY LONG RANGES, THE DB-110 RECONNAISSANCE POD GIVES MILITARY PERSONNEL A CRITICAL ADVANTAGE IN DEFENSE MISSIONS.

With its RAPTOR reconnaissance airborne pod, the U.K. Royal Air Force was the rst service in the world to eld a tactical reconnaissance system with these capabilities. Our DB-110 system is also on the Japanese Defense Force P-3 Orion.

Advancing our sensor technology

Continuing its innovation in sensor technology, the third generation of the Goodrich DB-110 will rst be used on F-16s by the Polish Air Force. This advanced long-range optical photography (LOROP) reconnaissance pod is a digital, tactical reconnaissance system with a dual-band sensor that allows simultaneous gathering of infrared and electro-optic imagery to capture images day and night. The images are transmitted to a cockpit video display or to the ground through a data-link system all in real time. With its proven success in piloted aircraft, a successful trial in the unmanned aerial vehicle environment and the new advanced third generation DB-110 in the pipeline, its easy to see how Goodrich is continuing to leverage its intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance expertise into next-generation products for the defense industry.

Successful JUET trial on UAVs

While the DB-110 has proven its capabilities in piloted aircraft, it has also been adapted for use in unmanned aerial vehicles. Working with the U.K. Ministry of Defense, Goodrich integrated a DB-110 sensor from the U.K.s RAPTOR program into a pod on a Predator B platform. Flight trials were run over a four-week period in the U.S. by the U.K.s Joint UAV Experimentation Team (JUET), supported by the Tactical Intelligence Wing from RAF Marham. More than 50 ying hours provided a successful evaluation of the system and tests of various operational scenarios.

Unequaled performance

The dual waveband imagery from the DB-110 was down-linked in real time from the Predator B to a Goodrich imagery exploitation and DB-110 control center on the ground using the systems wideband data link. Following exploitation, target-specic imagery was linked back to the U.K. over secure channels. The trial successfully demonstrated the ability to cross-cue between the DB-110 and the turreted video and SAR/GMTI radar sensors on the Predator B platform and to provide timely information to decision-makers on the ground. These were very, very encouraging trials, said Lt. Col. Richard Park, the head of the U.K.s Joint UAV Experimentation Team.
