e-mail 1 Mr. _______, Hi! My name is Stacey Burns and I am a pre-teaching student at the University of Illinois.

I have been given your name through the Office of Clinical Experiences as my cooperating teacher for this semester. I was planning on starting my time in your class on Tuesday, February, 14 from 8-11 am and wanted to check with you that this was alright! I look forward to working with you and your students over the course of the semester. Please let me know if you need any information from me or have any questions for me. Looking forward to working with you, Stacey Burns

e-mail 2 Hi Mrs. ________,

I hope that your summer has been going well and I can hardly believe it's been almost 4 years since I was in your class. As you know, I'll be graduating this coming May. I will have a degree in history and social studies education at the secondary level (6th-12th grades). I was hoping to seek your advice as a future teacher coming out of college. I have always wanted to work in a school district like ______and want to be a competitive applicant this time next year. In your opinion, what can I pursue in addition to my graduating degree that will help make me more marketable (ie, endorsements in other subject areas, the ability to teach AP social studies, etc). Besides social studies, what other subject areas would be beneficial for me to be certified to teach in? I know that the teaching (especially in social studies) job market is very competitive these days and I want to be as well prepared as possible from the start of my job search. I was also hoping that we could possibly set up a meeting so that I could talk to an experienced teacher about the interview process, what you look for and appreciate in new teachers etc. Looking forward to talking with you.

Thank You, Stacey

e-mail 3 Hello Mrs. ______, My name is Stacey Burns and I have been placed in your classroom for this semester by the Office of Clinical Experiences at the University of Illinois. I just wanted to send you an e-mail introducing myself and letting you know when I will be starting in your classroom. According to our schedule I will be coming to your classroom every Tuesday and Thursday from 8-11 starting on October 9 for 5 weeks. I actually have a class back on campus starting at 11 so I will need to leave early. Would it be okay for me to come in at 7:30-10:30 instead? I am more than willing to help with prep for the day or anything like that in the time before school starts! Also, what classes do you have during those times? The information that I was given just says 9-12 social studies.

For the semester we are required to teach one of our supervisor's lessons and one lesson to the class on our own. We can obviously talk more about this in person in a couple of weeks but I just wanted to give you a heads up! Please let me know if you need anything from me or have any questions for me! Looking forward to meeting you in person in a couple of weeks and working with you and your students. Best, Stacey
