Rains To Increase Across Brazil


Exceptional drought intensified over the past month in NW Argentina, Center-West and North Brazil. This week (and next) will see a whittling away and cessation of these overly dry conditions in most of these areas.

Ending Oct 6, the previous 4 weeks saw drought expand from NW Argentina into Center-West and the east portion of North Brazil. In Brazil, approximately 30% of its soybeans grow in these currently parched regions.

The worst drought changed showed in NW Argentina (Salta, Formosa and Chaco) and across Rondonia, N Mato Grosso, Tocantins into Piaui and N Bahai, in Brazil. The Brazilian dry areas grow approximately 15% of its next soy crop.

The next 7 days has rains crossing western and southern Brazilian drought areas. Rains also cross most of Argentinas drought zone, too. After this week, extreme and exceptional drought will remain across 5% of Brazils soy production in the North and Northeast.

The two week precipitation pattern now has the heaviest rains accumulating in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil and parts of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul. The drier weather will potentially be seen in Buenos Aires, La Pampa and Salta, Argentina; also, Sao Paulo and NE Brazil.
