Nutrobalanace Case Study Pm587

| |NutroBalance | Memo To: Alex Manager From: Martin E. Jones CC: Professor Roshonda Davis-Cheadle Date: 1/1/2011 Re: Section 1, Memo - PM587 Case Study After receiving the requirements for this project and putting a project plan together, I was able to determine that this project is set to run for 138 days, considering that we maintain our project schedule. With a commencement date of February 22, 2011, this will put us at an expected completion date of Thursday, September 1, 2011. In order to meet this date, the series of tasks that must be completed on schedule for the project to finish on schedule is as follows. If any one of these tasks on our critical path moves, the end date of the project will move as well. [pic] * Critical Tasks Report | |NutroBalance | Status Report To: Alex Manager From: Martin E. Re: Section 2, Status Report - PM587 Case Study With the proven success of our Ultra weight loss supplement, we at NutroBalance felt it could be a beneficial endeavor to build off that success by formulating an Ultra pill to target other segments of the work-out population. NutroBalance has decided to invest in a pilled called UltraMAX. The Ultra pill is geared primarily at men who lift weights and participate in cardiovascular exercises. The UltraMAX pill will target women work-out population who lift weights and do cardiovascular exercises. Since the core of the product has already been produced, this project to introduce UltraMAX to the work-out world really boils down to seeing if UltraMAX produces as good of results in women as Ultra does in men. Our project will commence February 22, 2011 and we were given right around 140 days to identify our target consumers, have them test the product, and then analyze and report on the results. We are estimating that the cost of this project will be $41,880.00 based on the resource costs provided. After running resource allocation reports for this project, it has come to our attention that one of our resources will be over-allocated throughout the duration of this project and we felt it necessary to do some resource leveling. This will extend our original duration to 143 days and completion date out four days to Wednesday, September 7, 2011. Based on the provided reports, Robert is obviously going to be maxed out on his workload. We felt it was in the project best interest to level our resources to ensure that our resource demand does not exceed our resource availability. As mentioned above, the will push out anticipated completion out by four days. We do have some tasks that have some slack, but we dont feel by reallocating those resources assigned to those tasks will benefit much to the project in terms of regaining that missed time from leveling. Please also take in consideration a big risk we run by having such a limit resource pool. That is the risk of our resources missing time from work due to illness or any other unforeseen circumstance. For those tasks that fall on our critical patch, if those resources miss any time, this will obviously impact our schedule. [pic] * Overallocated Resources Report

Jones CC: Professor Roshonda Davis-Cheadle Date: 4/20/2011 Re: Section 3, Executive Summary - PM587 Case Study With the proven success of our Ultra weight loss supplement, we at NutroBalance felt it could be a beneficial endeavor to build off that success by formulating an Ultra pill to target other segments of the work-out population. To date, we identified our target consumers, recruited test subjects and just wrapped up the screening process for these test subjects. The screening process took a bit longer than anticipated. Unfortunately, during the screening process, Sarah had to take an emergency leave of absence which set us back about nine days. If we remained our track, given the setback, we are looking at a new completion date of Monday, September

19, 2011 with our budget increasing to $45,880.00 (see Unstarted Taks & Budget - Updated figures below). We feel that we can gain some time back if we are able bring in another IT Programmer to assist Tony with developing and testing the data analysis database. This could prove to be cost beneficial to the project as well as save us about half the time it would take Tony to develop and test the database himself. Other suggestions we are considering is perhaps getting someone to assist Robert during the subject testing phase. Sarah would be a prime candidate as she is already familiar with the project and can work with Robert directly as he prepares for the testing. Barring no further setbacks, we feel strongly that if we can act on these suggestions, we will be able to bring the project back within our anticipated completion, if not sooner.
