Private Limited was started
in 1991. The company is
engaged in execution of
various types of projects in
the fields of agro processing, oil seeds and
oil processing, food processing and
chemical industry. It also undertakes re-
engineering, up-gradation and
rehabilitation of the existing projects. Apart
from that, Vibrandt also prepared project
reports, undertakes technical, environment
and safety audit, financial appraisals and
loan syndication and integrated scenario
planning. The company is headquartered
in New Delhi. Mr. Ashok Jain is the
managing director of the company. He is
B.E., mechanical and PGD in project
management. He says, “Though I am a
mechanical engineer, with specialization in
project management, I was attracted to agri
business right from the time of studies.
After I started my career, I realized how
important agriculture business is to the well
being of our nation. Agri Business is
probably the only sector which if does well
can have cascading multiplying effect in
the forward as well as backward direction
- backward direction for agriculture and
forward direction for the downstream
industry as well as consumers food and
health needs.” He adds, “We provide
holistic solutions for agro / food processing
sector, agri infrastructure and agri business
ventures right from concept to
commissioning and beyond.”

Agro Processing Consultancy
Speaking about agro processing
consultancy, Mr. Jain says, “Agro
processing consultancy is needed all over
India - right from the most backward
regions engaged in agriculture to most
advanced agriculture states. In fact
backward areas like North Eastern Region,
J&K, H.P., Uttaranchal, Orissa, and
Chhattisgarh are the areas that need our
services the most. But for advanced
regions, newer challenges are emerging
and that calls for more advanced
applications of agro food processing.”
Vibrandt has technology tie ups with a few
technology providers in the food sector, Mr.
Jain however clarifies, “These are of very
dynamic nature and technology support
level and sources vary from product to
product and from application to
application.
Seed Processing Plant
Speaking about seeds processing plant set
up by the company, Mr. Jain says, “We are
currently engineering one of the largest
seed processing plant in Jedcherla, A.P. that
shall handle a vast variety of seeds with
the latest processes and know how. This
plant might well be the largest facility of
its kind in the whole of world,” maintains
Mr. Jain.
Further suggesting measures to preserve
grains and other agricultural products, he
says, “Grains continue to be neglected in
India. Our physical and quality losses have
in fact increased over the years. We need
to design better loading and unloading
systems, go for scientific storage in bulk
silos or well-designed godowns with
temperature control and humidity control.
These are the areas we have done lot of
work very successfully.”
Alcohol Based Products
The company has also worked in alcohol
based industry. “In this industry, we have
worked on molasses-based distilleries,
oxalic acid plants and downstream
chemicals as also on corn grain based
alcohol which is a part of cor processing
complex with many other main and by-
products,” explains Mr. Jain.

Successful Turnkey Projects
Some of the successful agro processing
projects Vibrand has implemented are:
passion fruit processing plant in Manipur;
mango processing plant in KVB Puram,
A.P.; seeds processing plant in A.P.; sea
buckthorn fruit processing plant in Ladakh;
drumsticks cultivation and processing in
Gujarat; rapeseed & mustard processing
plant in Rajasthan; soy processing plants
in Rajasthan & M.P.; walnuts processing
plant in Jammu. “Currently we are doing 2
oilseeds processing projects in Myanmar
for FAO - these are for soy, g.nuts and
sunflower at one location and palm fruit at
another. These projects have done
extremely well commercially and more so
in providing higher remuneration to the
farmers and fostering better agriculture
practices and consequent higher yields and
quality of agriculture production,” says Mr.
Jain.

Infrastructure
The company does not have infrastructural
facilities for packaging. It does not have
any R & D lab of its own, either but has tie
ups with existing labs and research centers.
“We provide consultancy services,
knowhow and technology related outputs.
We do not own any production centers,
though we do have tie ups with production
units, research centers etc. for carrying out
many a new innovation,” maintains Mr.
Jain. When asked about the charges, Mr.
Jain maintains, “The charges of course
shall vary from the exact scope of work
and the complexities involved in terms of
technology, level of sophistication, scale
of operations etc,” says Mr. Ashok Jain.
Technology Outsourcing
Services
Technologies the company sources and
help industry assimilate are related to
advanced aspects of agro / food processing.
Some of the areas Vibrandt works on are -
juice extraction, aseptic packaging,
recovery of aromas and essences, multi
stage extraction, oil milling with advanced
energy efficient presses, refrigeration and
cold storage with vapor absorption systems
etc. Further speaking about the role played
by the company in technology assimilation
and upgradation, Mr. Jain says, “This is
also an extremely crucial area in Indian
context. Many a good technologies have
failed for want of proper assimilation.

The company has 12 permanent
employees and a panel of experts,
who work on project basis. “The
value of projects we have
completed in the last 3 years is in
excess of USD 48 million,”
maintains Mr. Jain. Besides
domestic projects, the company
has also worked in many overseas
destinations like Bangladesh,
Singapore, UAE, Somaliland,
Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Italy.
