A)

SETTING

PHYSICAL SETTING refers to place.

Paris The situation in the Paris is not calm anymore. The citizens live unhappily . They live without freedom and keep starving . This situation we can see in the first paragraph where it tells about the situation of the Paris at that time . The sentence told about this situation is many of the citizens were starving .The sparrows were gone and even the rats were being caught and eaten .

Paris street The place of two friends were meting.

River Monsieur Sauvage and Monsieur Morissot normally spend their time on the river bank to fishing . Besides that , thay died in this place.

Small cafe Monsieur Sauvage and Monsieur Morissot entered at a small cafe and they drinks together before they go to fishing at the river.

Island The location at the middle of the water. Actually , the island was deserted but after the Prussian soldiers coming , they lived at the island.

Headquarters The place that they wanted to ask the colonel about the permission and the password.

High reeds The two friends ran quickly and they threw themselves into the high reeds.

Prussians camp The place which the Prussian soldiers stay in the camp.

TIME SETTING refers to the time in the story is set in.

Sunday Every Sunday at daybreak , they always go to fishing at the river.

Night They spend the whole Sunday together until night.

Five minutes The Prussian soldiers said that in five minutes the two friends had be killed by them if they dont tell them the password.

Spring mornings The spring mornings show in this story.

Autumn afternoons The autumn afternoons also show in this story.

SOCIAL SETTING refers to community in the story.

In this story , we can find that many people were living in starving . Example : Many of citizens were starving . The sparrows were gone and even the rats were being caught and eaten by them .

Based on the story ,many people live in scared with the Prussian soldiers Example : All the civilian are very scared of the Prussian soldier because they had killed many people with not sympathy.

We also can see the loyalty to saved their country. Example : The two friends dont wanted to tell the Prussian soldiers the password.

Besides that , the cruel of Prussians soldiers . They killed many people without any sympathy to other people. Example : The Prussian soldiers had killed many people without any sympathy.

The two friends able to sacrifice their self to saved their own country. Example : The Prussian soldiers had killed them because they dont wanted to tell the password of their country. At this , we can see that they able to sacrifice their self just to saved their country from colonize by them.

The conclusion of this story are they were killed by the soldier because they dont wanted to gives the password . Their feet were tied by the ropes and stone and their dead body were thrown into the water and then sank immediately.
