Pray through Gods Story (Week 25)

Focus on God
Gods mighty works demonstrate the unmistakeable truth that he alone is God. And at the time of the offering of the oblation, Elijah the prophet came near and said, O LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word. Answer me, O LORD, answer me, that this people may know that you, O LORD, are God, and that you have turned their hearts back. Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said, The LORD, he is God; the LORD, he is God. (1 Kings 18:36-39)

Respond from the Heart

Pray for a heart that is wholly true to God. And [Abijam] walked in all the sins that his father did before him, and his heart was not wholly true to the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father . Nevertheless, for David's sake the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, setting up his son after him, and establishing Jerusalem, because David did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and did not turn aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite. (1 Kings 15:3-5) And Asa did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, as David his father had done. He put away the male cult prostitutes out of the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made. He also removed Maacah his mother from being queen mother because she had made an abominable image for Asherah. And Asa cut down her image and burned it at the brook Kidron. But the high places were not taken away. Nevertheless, the heart of Asa was wholly true to the LORD all his days. (1 Kings 15:11-14)

Seek First the Kingdom

Pray for the church that we would have a powerful prayer life and that unbelievers will be drawn to God as they see the power of Gods Word. Then he stretched himself upon the child three times and cried to the LORD, O LORD my God, let this child's life come into him again. And the LORD listened to the voice of Elijah. And the life of the child came into him again, and he revived. And Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper chamber into the house and delivered him to his mother. And Elijah said, See, your son lives. And the woman said to Elijah, Now I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is truth. (1 Kings 17:21-24)

Present Your Requests

Pray that God will provide for us even in miraculous ways. Pray also for a more obedient heart. And the word of the LORD came to [Elijah]: Depart from here and turn eastward and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. You shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there. So he went and did according to the word of the LORD. He went and lived by the brook Cherith that is east of the Jordan. And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook. And after a while the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land. (1 Kings 17:2-7)

Close in Celebration
Thank God for all the people whom he reserved to worship him alone instead of idols. Yet I will leave seven thousand in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him. (1 Kings 19:18)
