SECTION 16510 - INTERIOR LIGHTING PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 A 1.2 A B 1 2 3 4 1.3 A B RELATED DOCUMENTS Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. SUMMARY This Section includes interior lighting fixtures, lighting fixtures mounted on exterior building surfaces, lamps, ballasts, and accessories. Related Sections include the following: Division 16 "Wiring Devices" for wall-box dimmers and manual light switches Division 16 "Lightning Control Devices" for occupancy sensors, photoelectrical relays, and contactors. Division 16 "Automatic Lighting Control and Remote Power Switching System" for programmable lighting control system. Other Divisions and Sections, as applicable. SUBMITTALS General: Submit the following in accordance with Conditions of Contract and Division 1 Specification Sections. Product data describing fixtures, lamps and ballasts. Arrange product data for fixtures in order of fixture designation. Include data on features and accessories and the following information: Outline drawings of fixtures indicating dimensions and principal features. Electrical ratings and photometric data with specified lamps and certified results ofindependent laboratory tests. Electrical ratings and performance data for ballasts and lamps. Data shall be complete, to clearly show compliance with all spefication and drawing requirements. Maintenance data for products for inclusion in Operating and Maintenance Manual specified in Division 1. Shop drawings from manufactures detailing nonstandard fixtures and indicating dimensions, weights, methods of field assembly, components, features, and accessories. Product certifications signed by manufacturers of lighting fixtures certifying that their fixtures comply with speficied requirements. Samples for verification purposes of specific individual fixtures, where specified or indicated. For fixture manufacturers and models proposed by the Contractor that are not listed in the lighting fixture schdule, the Contractor shall submit computerized point-by-point fixture layout and illumination calculations if requested by the Engineer during review of submittals. Calculations shall be based on the proposed fixture and field conditions, and shall be submitted within 14 days after the date of request. Assumed reflections, work planes, and light loss factors shall be as concurred by the Engineer. For fixture manufacturers and models proposed by the Contractor that are not listed in the lighting fixture schdule, the Contractor shall submit fixture samples conforming to the fixtures proposed by the Contractor, if requested by the Engineer during review of the submittals. Samples will be returned to the Contractor after evaluation, and may be used in the work if proposed fixture is approved for use in the work. Compliance Remarks

SECTION 16510 - INTERIOR LIGHTING Dimming Ballast Compatibility Certificates:Signed by manufacturer of ballast certifying I that ballasts are compatible with dimming systems and equipment with which they are used. Response to the specifications: J The manufacturer shall submit a point by point statement of compliance with the 1 specifications. The statement of compliance shall consist of a list of numbered paragraphs. Each 2 spefication paragraph shall be cross referenced to the page/drawing in the submittal on which the compliance is confirmed, the confirming data on the page/drawing shall be highlighted for ready identification. Where the proposed system complies fully, indicate by placing the word "comply" 3 opposite the paragraph number. Where the proposed system does not comply, or accomplishes the started function 4 in a manner different from that described, provide a full description of the deviation. Where the full description of deviation is not provided, it shall be assumed that 5 the proposed system does not comply with the paragraph in question. Any submittal which does not include a point by point statement of compliance as 6 specified shall be disqualified. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE Fixtures and Accessories: Listed and labeled as defined in NFPA 70, Article 100 or A equivalent standards, by a testing agency acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction. Comply with NFPA 70, latest edition or equivalent standards. B FM or equivalent standards compliance: Fixtures for hazardous locations shall be listed C and labeled for indicated class and division of hazard by FM. NFPA 101 or equivalent standards compliance: Comply with visibility, luminance rand D placement requirements for exit signs. References made to British Standards or IEC shall also be acceptable. E 1.5 COORDINATION Fixtures, Mounting Hardware, and Trim: Coordinate layout and installation of lighting A fixtures with ceiling system and other construction. 1.6 WARRANTY General Warranty: Special warranty specified in this Article shall not deprive the customer of other rights the A customer may have under other provisions of the Contract Documents and shall be in addition to, and run concurrent with, other warranties made by Contractor under requirements of the Contract Documents. Special Warranties for Fluorescent Ballasts: Written warranty, executed by B manufacturer agreeing to replace fluorescent ballasts that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period. Special Warranty Period for Electronic Ballasts: Five years from date of 1 manufacture, but not less than four years from the date of Substanatial Completion. Special Warranty Period for Eletromagnetic Ballasts: Manufacturer's standard 2 warranty, but not less than two years from date of manufacture. 1.7 EXTRA MATERIALS Furnish extra materials described below that match products installed and that are A packaged with protective covering for storage and identified with labels describing contents. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 MANUFACTURERS Available Products: Subject to compliance with requirements, products that may be A incorporated into the Work include, but are not limited to, the products indicated in the Interior Lighting Fixture Schedule on the drawings. Fixtures shall comply with all requirements specified herein and on the drawings. 2.2 FIXTURES AND FIXTURE COMPONENTS, GENERAL Metal Parts: Free from burrs, sharp corners, and edges. A Sheet Metal Components: Steel, unless otherwise indicated. Form and support to B prevent warping and sagging. Doors, Frames, and Other Internal Access: Smooth operating, free from light leakage C under operating conditions, and arranged to permit relamping without use of tools. Arrange doors, frames, lenses, diffusers, and other pieces to prevent accidental falling during relamping and when secured in operating position. Reflecting Surfaces: Minimum reflectance as follows, unless otherwise indicated: D White Surfaces: 85 percent. 1 Specular Surfaces: 83 percent. 2 Diffusing Specular Surfaces: 75 percent. 3 Lenses, Diffusers, Covers, and Globes: 100 percent virgin acrylic plastic or annealed E crystal glass, unless otherwise indicated. Plastic: High resistance to yellowing and other changes due to aging, exposure to 1 heat, and ultraviolet radiation. Lens Thickness: 3 mm minimum, unless greater thickness is indicated. 2 UV Test Reports: For all fixtures specified with UV Lenses, fixture manufacturers 3 shall provide spectrophotometric test data for the entire fixture assembly indicating the Ultraviolet emission levels are not greater than 75.0 microwatts per lumen below the 400 nanometer level. Fixtures shall be fused with one fuse in each ungrounded leg on the primary side of the F ballast. The ampere interrupting capacity of the fuse shall be suitable for the voltage and circuit in which the fixtures are installed. 2.3 SUSPENDED FIXTURE SUPPORT COMPONENTS Comply with Division 16 Section "Basic Electrical Materials and Methods" or A equivalent standards. Single-Stem Hangers: 13 mm steel tubing with swivel ball fitting and ceiling canopy. B Finish same as fixture. Twin-Stem Hangers: Two, 13 mm steel tubes with single canopy arranged to mount a C single fixture. Finish same as fixture. Rod Hangers: 5 mm minimum diameter, cadmium-plated, threaded steel rod. D Hook Hanger: Integrated assembly matched to fixture and line voltage and equipped E with threaded attachment, cord, and locking-type plug. Chain Hangars: Wire hook and 914 mm chain set. SECTION 16510 - INTERIOR LIGHTING Conform to UL 1570, "Fluorescent Lighting Fixtures." or equivalent standards. A Fluorescent Ballasts: Electronic integrated circuit, solid-state, full-light-output, energyB efficient type compatible with lamps and lamp combinations to which connected. Certification by Electrical Testing Laboratory (ETL). 1 Labeling by Certified Ballast Manufacturers Association (CBM). 2 Type: Class P, rapid start, high power factor, except as otherwise indicated. 3 Sound Rating: As indicated on Ballast Schedule. 4 Voltage: Match connected circuits. 5 Lamp Flicker: Less than 5 percent. Lamps shall operate at a frequency of 20 KHz 6 or higher without visible flicker. Minimum Power Factor: As indicated on Ballast Schedule. 7 Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of Ballast Current: Less than 10 percent. Ballasts 8 shall meet ANSI C82.11 or equivalent standards regarding harmonic distortion. Conform to FCC Regulations Part 15, Subpart J for electromagnetic interference. 9 Conform to IEEE C62.41, Category A, or equivalent standards for resistance to 10 voltage surges for normal and common modes. Multilamp Ballasts: Use 2,3, or 4 lamp ballasts for multilamp fixtures where 11 possible, unless switching arrangement does not allow. Lamp-ballast connection method does not reduce normal rated life of lamps. 12 Dimming Ballasts: Electronic type providing smooth dimming over a minimum 13 range from 100 to 5 percent light output. Listed for use with specific fluorescent dimming system provided. Dimming systems are specified in Division 16 Section "Lighting Control Equipment." Minimum Ballast Factor: As indicated on Ballast Schedule. End-Of-Lamp-Life protection is required in ballasts for T5 lamps and smaller. HIGH-INTENSITY-DISCHARGE (HID) FIXTURES Conform to UL 1572. "High-Intensity Discharge Lighting Fixtures." or equivalent standards. HID BALLASTS Conform to UL 1029 and ANSI C82.4 or equivalent standards. Include the following features, except as otherwise indicated. Constant wattage autotransformer (CWA) or regulating high-power-factor type, unless otherwise indicated. Operating Voltage: Match system voltage. Single-Lamp Ballasts: Minimum starting temperature of minus 30 deg C. Normal Ambient Operating Temperature: 40 deg C. Open circuit operation will not reduce average life. Noise Suppression: Manufacturer's standard epoxy-encapsulated model designed to minimize audible fixture noise. INCANDESCENT FIXTURES Conform to UL 1571 or equivalent standards. EXIT SIGNS Sign Colors: Provide green light emitting diode (LED) type, with black background. SECTION 16510 - INTERIOR LIGHTING 2.9 LAMPS Comply with ANSI C78 series or equivalent standards.that is applicable to each type of A lamp. Fluorescent Color Temperature and Minimum Color-Rendering Index (CRI): Provide as B indicated in Lighting Fixture Schedule on Drawings. Metal Halide Color Temperature and Minimum Color-Rendering Index (CRI): Provide C as indicated in Lighting Fixture Schedule on Drawings. 2.1 FINISHES Manufacturer's standard, except as otherwise indicated, applied over corrosion-resistant treatment or primer, free of A streaks, runs, holidays, stains, blisters, and similar defects. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION Setting and Securing: Set lighting fixtures plumb, square, and level with ceiling and A walls, in alignment with adjacent lighting fixtures, and secure in accordance with manufacturer's directions and approved shop drawings. Conform to the requriements of NFPA 70 or equivalent standards. B Mounting: Install at the locations and mounting heights indicated on Drawings. Support: Recessed and semi-recessed fixtures may be supported from suspended C ceiling support system ceiling tees if approved by the ceiling system manufacturers; and if the ceiling system support rods or wires are provided with a minimum of four rods or wires per fixture and located not more than 150 mm from each corner of each fixture. Otherwise, fixtures shall have separate support rods or wires. For round fixtures or fixtures smaller in size than the ceiling grid, provide a 1 minimum of four rods or wires per fixture and locate at each corner of the ceiling grid in which the fixture is located. 2 Do not support fixtures by ceiling acoustical panels. Where fixtures of sizes less than the ceiling grid are indicated to be located in the 3 acoustical panel, support such fixtures in the center of the ceiling panel, or with at least two 20 mm metal channels spanning and wired to the ceiling tees. Additionally, for recessed fixtures, provide support clips securely fastened to ceiling 4 grid members, a minimum of one within 150 mm of each corner of each fixture. Coordination: Coordinate with other trades as appropriate to properly interface D installation of lighting fixtures with other work. Grounding: Ground non-current-carrying parts of electrical equipment, in accordance E with Division 16 Section "Grounding." Where the copper grounding conductor is connected to a metal other than copper, provide specially treated or plated connectors suitable for this purpose. Support for Suspended Fixtures: Brace pendants and rods that are 1.2 m long or F longer to limit swinging. Support stem mounted single-unit suspended fluorescent fixtures with twin-stem hangers. For continuous rows, use tubing or stem for wiring at one point and tubing or rod for suspension for each unit length of chassis, including one at each end. SECTION 16510 - INTERIOR LIGHTING Wiring: Wiring for lighting circuits shall comply with all requirements indicated or H specified. Individual junction boxes shall be provided for surface-mounted and pendant fixtures, with wiring extended to fixtures in an approved manner. Recessed ceilingmounted fixtures shall be wired with junction boxes having flexible metal conduit whips extending to fixtures in accordance with NFPA 70 or in accordance with BS 7671, 16th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations; up to four fixtures may be connected to a junction box. Through-wiring of fixtures may be provided where fixtures are approved and listed for that wiring method. Support lighting circuit wiring in accordance with NFPA 70 or in accordance with BS 7671, 16th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations. 3.2 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL Inspect each installed fixture for damage. Replace damaged fixtures and components. A Advance Notice: Give dates and times for field tests. B Provide instruments to make and record test results.
