Trade Union International of Energy (TUI ENERGY)

WORLD FEDERATION OF TRADE UNIONS

(WFTU)

CALL INVITATION
INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF TRADE UNIONS IN ENERGY SECTOR
Dear colleagues, The undersigned on behalf of: Trade Union International of Energy (TUI ENERGY) formed by the trade unions in oil, electricity, nuclear energy, gas, chemical, water and energy mining sectors. The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) And the host organizations: Unique Federation of Oil Workers of Venezuela (FUTPV) and Federation of Electricity Workers of Venezuela (FETRAELEC) We convey warm greetings to you and to all members of the organization that you represent with dignity. By this message we invite your organization to participate in the International Congress of Energy Trade Unions to be held in Caracas, Venezuela, on November 29-30, this year. This congress will be of crucial importance as it takes place in the framework of a deep global economic crisis, as a result of the crisis of the capitalist system, which has also generated an energy crisis, food, environmental and moral crisis, as well as wars and invasions of sovereign countries promoted by the U.S. government and its allies in the EU, mainly with target to take over the oil resources. Humanity is at risk from a global war for energy, whose victims will be the people of the Third World countries that have oil reserves. Moreover, the working class suffers the main consequences of these crises, with massive layoffs and widespread unemployment as well as cuts in their wages and other social rights in countries with neoliberal policies. Because of energy, natural gas and energy pipelines the inter-capitalist rivalries increase and the aggressiveness of transnational corporations becomes more a more exacerbated. The war in Libya took place because of the energy and not for democracy. The situation in Asia, in Iraq, in Afghanistan, in Iran shows the danger that such rivalries generate. The war threaten of Britain against Argentina for the control of the rich reserves of the underwater areas of Falkland Islands, as well as the threatens of the EU and Spain for the nationalization of 51% of YPF in Argentina underline the fact that capitalists are able to put peace in danger for their profits. The slanders of USA and their allies against Venezuela, the rivalries in the Arctic, the instability in Nigeria, the developments in the Persian Gulf between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain reconfirm that wars take place for the control of new markets and to increase profits. And

while the profits of energy transnational corporations increase, the salaries and working conditions of workers in the energy sector are getting worse. This is capitalism. For these and other reasons the congress to be held in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, where there is an undergoing process of changes implemented by the Bolivarian Revolution under the leadership of President Hugo Chavez, will be a transcendent experience for the participant delegates. The Congress will discuss: - The current situation of energy workers and their main problems and social rights to be recovered. - Struggle for the defense of natural strategic resources like hydrocarbons energy and others. - The struggle against privatization of strategic sectors and the struggle for their renationalization. - Militant solidarity with the struggle of workers in the world against anti-labor and antiunion policies that transnational corporations are imposing to save the economic crisis generated by the capitalist system. - Solidarity with the processes of change that are taking place in several regions, mainly in Latin America and other topics.
