How ICT Helps SS Learning The first way in which ICT helps the students learn in this lesson is through its ease of access to multimedia clips. This lesson is based around a video which can be found on a website (YouTube) this of course would be impossible without ICT. Even in the most basic sense, if the teacher had an analogue video player and television through which they could display the clip, the display would be smaller (the more accessible, in terms of viewing, the video, the easier it is for students to follow it and therefore the greater their chance of learning from it) and the teacher would have to obtain a copy of the video and have the previous knowledge that they could use this clip as a resource before they obtained it. However, when using a resource such as YouTube the teacher is able to browse through any number of uploaded videos quickly and easily before selecting which one they deem to be the most suitable for their lesson aims and objectives. The teacher need not have any previous knowledge of the videos which they browse as they are able to find appropriate resources by using the search criteria provided by the website. This makes the process of finding appropriate resources for lessons much simpler. Reason would dictate that the more options a teacher has at their disposal, the more specialized and tailored those resources may be and in turn the more focused and tailored the lesson; which will, no doubt, benefit the students. Furthermore, if a student is exposed to something they enjoy or find useful it is easy for them to follow up on their interest in their own time by browsing links and/or related searches on the website, thus widening and deepening their knowledge

and understanding of the subject through self learning as nowadays almost every household will have some way of using the internet (even if not, the student is able to access these facilities at school). If the lesson is not completed in the allotted class time then the teacher may upload the lesson resources onto the schools intranet and give students the option to access it in their own time and finish the exercises by themselves or even revisit it for revision purposes.
