Lecture Week(LW) Schedule: LW 1-2 INTRODUCTION TO COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Element in communication system, information, messages and signal, baseband, bandpass; Modulation process and its need; Noise, interference and distortion; Signal-to-Noise Power Ratio, Noise Factor and Noise Figure; Limitation in communication system; Frequency spectrum and Various types of communication system. LW 2-6 LW 6-9 ANALOG MODULATION TECHNIQUES Amplitude Modulation (AM); Frequency Modulation (FM) and Phase Modulation. DIGITAL MODULATION TECHNIQUES Digital information in Communication, Information capacity, bits, bit rate, baud and M-ary encoding, Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK), Frequency Shift Keying (FSK), Phase Shift Keying (PSK), Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM), Pulse Modulation (PM), Asynchronous and Synchronous System; Illustrate Multiplexing techniques : Frequency Division Multiplexing (FDM). Time Division Multiplexing (TDM). Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM).Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and Compares TDM and FDM DATA COMMUNICATION Introduction, History of data communication, Data communication circuit arrangement, Network topology, Network Classification. GUIDED AND UNGUIDED TRANSMISSION MEDIUM Guided transmission medium: multipaired cable, twisted pair, coaxial, fiber optic cable, waveguide and microstrip; unguided transmission medium: ground waves, space waves, sky waves, satellite communication and antenna propagation.
