WHAT WAS BEFORE

Soon after the mutiny of the Conclave of High Priests was suppressed and the Great King of Ardania had returned His throne (the events of Majesty 2: Monster Kingdom), he along with his faithful Royal Adviser gathered the greatest army of men and monsters, and lead it to the North to reclaim it for the Kingdom. Many heads of guilds, high priests and lords went with the King, and all with Him disappeared not long after they had crossed the Northern mountains. After the missing of the King his Deputy managed to keep the rightful rule in Ardania for some time, but he cant do that forever the tensions between new Conclave and Council of mages along with the influence of King Rrat XIX and King Lich broke the peace and civil war was started. Those time are now known as the Troubles Time. After the seventy four years of war there arent any traces of the central power many Guilds were reformed, temples forgotten, the capitol of Great Kings lies in ruins and there is no news about the fate of the Great King. The only ones who still keep any kind of order on their lands are the Great Mages (as they call themselves). The Council of Great mages includes the most powerful magicians of Ardania and now they are its rightful rulers. Once not long ago gods of Ardania have came to Great mages with the proposal that cannot be refused. Gods have decided that they forgot about mortals for too long and that faith in them suffers from the constant war, so the war should be ended and there must be again only one ruler in Ardania. But as gods themselves know no unity and constantly challenge each other, they would let the Great mages to decide, who will be that ruler. The Council of Great mages was gathered and Great mages were arguing almost for two months about who of them will be named the most worthy and given the title of Warlock Master of the Arcane, and at last have decided to make it clear in a challenge. So the ruinous war of Troubles Time has ended and the glorious challenge for the Warlock title has begun.

Building

In the city view you can give new names to your cities, switch between them, select a building to construct and a unit(s) to recruit.

1. Name of the city and arrows keys to switch between your cities. 2. List of units recruiting. In order to hire a unit you need the sertain buildings to be built already, and also you need enough resources. Which resources are required for a unit is shown in the hint near the cursor (move it over a units icon). 3. Close city view button.

4. Information about city resources: gold, food, mana, and research points production, population growth. 5. List of buildings. To start a construction you should select an available building from the list and point to the free hex on the map. a. You can only build inside city borders! When population growths the city boundaries expand giving new place for construction. b. Some buildings also require other building to be built first or a local resources like gold or donkeys. These prerequisites are shown in the hint near cursor. c. If all building in the list are unavailable it could be because of: i. Construction is already in progress, ii. There is not enough population, iii. There are no free places for new buildings. d. Temples to gods can be built only on special landscape type - Holy Grounds. Note that holy ground should be inside the city borders.

Spell casting and spell research

In the spell book window you can choose a spell to cast. The indicator near the spell shows the time required of casting. Note that abilities of your Great mage are improving during the game so the time of casting will decrease. In the spell research window you can choose new spell for research. The spell and its effects are described in the hint near the cursor (move it over a spells icon).
Spells could be aimed and global. Some global spells act right after the casting, but mostly spells need to be aimed at a target.

Units moving, fighting and city capturing

The selected unit can move over the map. Number of hexes a unit can pass during one turn depends on: Its movement type, The number of movement points and The movement cost. Every landscape has its own movement cost.
Flying units can cross almost any landscape types without penalties.

Most land units can cross the seas on ships automatically, just make sure you have built a harbor in any of your cities.
Moving and fighting animations can be skipped by left-click of a mouse.

If a unit spends all its movement points, it cant attack during the current turn. If a unit attacked an enemy, it cant move that turn (burns all movement points).

The attacks burn any remaining movement points.

A unit can attack if an enemy unit is at the attack distance. For the ranged attacks this distance may be 1 hex or more, for melee attacks an enemy unit should be on the neighboring hex. By moving a mouse cursor over the possible target you will activate "battle prediction" window that allows to see a most possible outcome of the attack. If you delay a bit the cursor over the target unit you will see the full battle prediction information with shown influence of additional factors - the landscape and special abilities of units. Note that the actual results of the battle may differ from the supposed ones (there is small randomization of damage, and also chances to make a critical hit).

If the melee attack was made and it ended in victory (an enemy is eliminated or retreats), the attacking unit takes the hex of the defender. If there was range attack or the defender repels melee attack than both units stay on their places. To capture a city you have to defeat a unit in the city's castle, defeat the castle itself and then enter it with one of your units. Any castle or fort can attack enemies with range attack and defend itself even if there is no unit in it.
By capturing an enemy city of other race you will be able to use that race technologies and recruit its' unit, but note that some buildings can be razed during the capture.

Quests
From time to time you will receive quests. By completing those you may receive awards in gold, mana points, spells or units.

A new quest generates news about it. A received quest will be shown in upper-right part of the main screen so you can follow its progress. Then the quest is completed you will receive the message about it.

Diplomacy Screen

From here you can start negotiations with known Great mages in order to trade, make peace or non-agression pact, declare war and so on. Also here is the Circle of gods that shows the relations between gods and Great mages. To improve the relationship with a god you have to complete his or her quests.
