COMELEC MEMO No.

201220 Dated 21 October 2012 TO: Loyola Schools Student Body FROM: Ateneo Commission on Elections RE: Correction on Position Titles and Clarification on Senior Representative Positions Upon conducting a joint review of the 2005 Anonated Sanggunian Constitution with the Ateneo Student Judicial Court (SJC), the Commission, in concurrence with the SJC, has ascertained that particular official position titles in the Sanggunian necessitate correction and clarification. According to the organizational charts found in the Constitution, Central Board Representative, Executive Officer, and Course Representative position titles should be preceded, not by the respective year levels (i.e., 1st Year, 2nd Year, 3rd Year, and 4th Year), but by the batch names (i.e., Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior). This means that the official position title of what used to be labeled as SOH 4th Year Central Board Representative should be SOH Senior Central Board Representative. All other position titles should follow this format. This shall be used by the Commission from the issuance of this Memorandum hence and shall be effective starting in the 2013 General Elections season. Moreover, addressing the perennial confusion regarding the eligibility of undergraduate superseniors in both running and voting, it has been clarified by and with the SJC that in the Constitution, all instances of senior pertain to those belonging to 4th year and up. Hence, for senior representatives: 1) Those eligible to run would be students belonging to 4th year and beyond (i.e., including the superseniors or 5th year students). 2) The constituency would encompass 4th year students and beyond (i.e., 5th year students would be included in their constituency and so, in the quota as well). Thus, students 5th year and beyond CAN run, but they would be running for SENIOR representative positions (e.g., 5th year students may run for Senior Central Board Representative or Senior Executive Officer). This also means, however, that there would not be any Supersenior Course Representatives even for 5-year courses such as BS Biology and BS Chemistry with Materials Science and Engineering, among others. Please be guided accordingly.

Sincerely,

(Sgd.) Jasmine P. Leao Chief Commissioner

(Sgd.) Erinne D. Baniaga Commissioner for Promotions

(Sgd.) Mary Kryslette C. Bunyi Commissioner for Secretariat
