Abstract: T his paper studied the size and t he dynamics of diff erent land use soil organic carbon in Xiashu and discussed t he influence on soil carbon pool of land use change, based on t he t hree pool t heory. T he results indicat e:
T he tot al soil organic carbon f or 020 cm, 2040 cm and 70100 cm lay ers are 7 818. 349 242. 30 mg/ kg,
3 093. 663 338. 59 mg / kg and 2 337. 273 188. 40 mg / kg . T he slow carbon pool in all layers reduced w hen
the land use changes f rom forest to dry f ield ; and t he passive carbon pool increased in mid-lay er . T hese diff erences
w ill augment with t he increase of cult ivat ion time. T he proportion of each carbon pool has no obvious chang e. T he
proport ion f or active, slow and passive pool are 0. 41% 3. 81% , 23. 23% 79. 11% , 18. 11% 74. 80% . T he
mean residue t ime for active and slow pool are 340 days and 524 years. Soil org anic carbon decomposition has
tw o phases: fast decom posit ion in early t ime and slow decomposition in late t ime . T he fast decom posit ion phase is
the m ean residue t ime of active carbon . T he aut hors hav e the point of v iew t hat t he dry field is m ore pow erful
than forest in carbon sequest ration. T he dry f ield will be a large carbon sink under good m anagement and ef fect ive
tillage control measure.
