experiences into tangible products, says Professor Fong. In September under the brand BU Health we launched a series of health products in our clinics and expect them to be available on the market this November. Ms. Carry Yu, General Manager of IACM, reviews the strict standards applied to these products. Produced by the IACM, all BU Health products are formulated by a team of experienced Chinese medical practitioners at HKBU. To ensure safety and effectiveness, all BU Health products contain pure and natural Chinese herbs which are selected and authenticated by professionals, and

manufactured under a strictly controlled, technologically advanced process. In September the IACM further served the community by publishing a compendium of 31 common illnesses in Hong Kong. Written by renowned practitioners and scholars at the School of Chinese Medicine and edited by the Dean of the School, Professor Liu Liang, the book introduces the symptoms, causes and therapeutic recipes for these common ailments. With plans in the works to publish additional books, the IACM continues to work with the Schools experts to develop new Chinese medicine products to benefit the community as a whole, says Ms. Yu.

BU Health products meet the standards set by the Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Authentication Centre which requires all Chinese medicine products to pass its DNA fingerprinting authentication and quality evaluation before an A mark is granted (A means Authentication). The products also conform to the Hong Kong Governments strict standards on heavy metals, pesticide residues and microbiological contents. The BU Health logo, designed by a student of HKBUs Academy of Visual Arts, uses a stylized, green leaf to symbolise that the medicinal herbs used in the preparation of its Chinese medicine products are all-natural and in accord with the Governments strict standards.
