Swami Vivekananda Sept. 1893 In Chicago, Parliament of world religions.

Address at the Final Session
The World's Parliament of Religions has become an accomplished fact, and the merciful Father has helped those who labored to bring it into existence, and crowned with success their most unselfish labor. My thanks to those noble souls whose large hearts and love of truth first dreamed this wonderful dream and then realized it. My thanks to the shower of liberal sentiments that has overflowed this platform. My thanks to this enlightened audience for their uniform kindness to me and for their appreciation of every thought that tends to smooth the friction of religions. A few jarring notes were heard from time to time in this harmony. My special thanks to them, for they have, by their striking contrast, made general harmony the sweeter. Much has been said of the common ground of religious unity. I am not going just now to venture my own theory. But if anyone here hopes that this unity will come by the triumph of any one of the religions and the destruction of the other, to them I say, "Friends, yours is an impossible hope." Do I wish that the Christian would become Hindu? God forbid. Do I wish that the Hindu or Buddhist would become Christian? God forbid. The seed is put in the ground, and earth and air and water are placed around it. Does the seed become the earth, or the air, or the water? No. It becomes a plant, it develops after the law of its own growth, assimilates the air, the earth, and the water, converts them into plant substance, and grows into a plant.

Similar is the case with religion. The Christian is not to become a Hindu or a Buddhist, nor a Hindu or a Buddhist to become a Christian. But each must assimilate the spirit of the others and yet preserve their individuality and grow according to their own law of growth. If the Parliament of Religions has shown anything to the world it is this: It has proved to the world that holiness, purity and charity are not the exclusive possessions of any church in the world,

today!!! Let your work Inspire Others.

one can realise the Truth, that is God. Therefore, the goal of knowledge is the understanding of the Ultimate Truth. The first fruit of education must be humility and self control. On deep consideration, ahimsa appears to be good as an ideal or for preaching. But practically speaking, it is difficult to follow fully. First of all, we must love others. But if we love anyone too much, the end is sorrow. Therefore we should love God who always gives happiness and not sorrow. I ask myself if we love God, should we not love anyone else in this world? So long as there is false knowledge which distinguishes God from the rest of the world, there will be differences. If we attain Jnana that God is all, we will develop the same love for all that we have for God; This is the sign of Ahimsa.

Right education should make us know that God is the Truth. Knowledge must fill one with good qualities, through which

and that every system has produced men and women of the most exalted character. In the face of this evidence, if some people still dream of the exclusive survival of their own religion and the destruction of the others, I pity them from the bottom of my heart, and point out to them that upon the banner of every religion will soon be written, in spite of resistance: "Help and not Fight", "Assimilation and not Destruction",; "Harmony and Peace and not Dissension."

Brahadeeshwara temple at Thanjavur

One of the greatest Chola king, Raja Raja Cholan built it more than 1000 years ago and to this day it makes visitors and devotees to admire the grand architectural/engineering/devotional marvel of the Cholas. The tall Gopuram and the big Nadhi welcomes people from far and near. The lingam and Chandeeshwarar shrine are very large in this temple. Since such shrines and idols are all big in size, the temple is also called Big temple or Periya Kovil in Tamil. Raja Raja Cholan appointed Othuvars in temples to sing Devarams which he himself took out with the help of Nambi Andar Nambi from Chidamaram. It was because of him that we today have Devarams singing in temples. Thus he was not only great king and won battles but made administration of his kingdom and temples so wonderful that we still need to take lessons. He had divided his kingdom and had kudavolai election, through which administrators were appointed.

A child of Allah and Ram Kabir

When the wave rises, it is the water; and when it falls, it is the same water again. Tell me, Sir, where is the distinction? Because it has been named as wave, shall it no longer be considered as water? Look upon life and death; there is no separation between them, The right hand and the left hand are one and the same. Kabr says: "There the wise man is speechless; for this truth may never be found in Vedas or in books." He who has savoured it once, he knows what joy it can give. Kabr says: "Knowing it, the ignorant man becomes wise, and the wise man becomes speechless and silent, The worshipper is utterly inebriated, His wisdom and his detachment are made perfect; O MY heart! the Supreme Spirit, the great Master, is near you: wake, oh wake! Run to the feet of your Beloved: for your Lord stands near to your head. You have slept for unnumbered ages; this morning will you not wake?

THE river and its waves are one surf: where is the difference between the river and its waves?

Did you know? Contributions of India to World

The siddhanta-skandha deals with arithmetic, trigonometry, geometry and algebra. The higher mathematics developed by the west in later centuries is found in our ancient Jyotisa. Arithmetic, called "vyakta-ganita" in sanskrit, includes addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. "Avyaktaganita" is algebra. "Jya" means the earth and "miti" is method of measurement. "Jyamiti" evolved with the need to measure the sacrificial place :"geometry" is derived from this word. The "geo" in geography is from "jya". There is a mathematical exercise called "samikarana" which is the same as "equation". There is an equation in the Apastamba sulba sutras which could not be proved until recently. Westerners had thought it to be faulty merely as they could not solve it. Now they accepted it as right. That Indians had taken such great strides in mathematics, thousand of years ago has caused amazement in the West. There are a number of old equations still to be solved. Our sastras mention branches of mathematics like "rekhaganita, "kuttaka", "angapaka", etc. "Avyakta-ganita" is also called "bijaganita". Eight hundred years ago there lived a great mathematician called Bhaskaracarya. He wrote a mathematical treatise and named it "Lilavati" after his daughter. The father taught his widowed daughter mathematics and she became highly proficient in the subject. Lilavati deals with arithmetic, algebra, etc. It is a delightful book in which the problems are stated in verse as stories. Bhaskaracarya also wrote the Siddhanta-Siromani which deals with how the positions and movement of the heavenly bodies are determined. We learn the text of an edict in the Pracinalekhamala that a Gurjara (Gujarat) king had made an endowment to popularise the works of Bhaskaracarya. Varahamihira lived several years before Bhaskaracarya, that is about 1, 500 years ago. He wrote a number of treatises including the Brhat-Samhita and the Brhajjatika. The first is a digest of many sciences, its contents being a wonderful testimony to the variety of subjects in which our forefathers has taken strides. Brhajjatika is all about astrology. Aryabhata, famous for his Aryabhatiya-Siddhanta, also lived 1, 500 years ago. The vakya-ganita now in use is said to be based on his Siddhanta. Varahamihira and Aryabhata are much acclaimed by mathematicians today. All these books on mathematics also deal with the movements of the celestial bodies. Arabic number system as we call it is actually Indian number system. The Arabs learnt it from Indians, Europeans learnt it from the Arabs and so we are calling it as Arabic number system. Arabs have their own number system and thats a different one.

He was the commander in chief of a Pallava King and brought many great victories by slaying enemies in battlefront. King pleased asked his the commander in chief for his wish, and the he replied he wants to serve God. Thus he quit battlefront and started serving Lord and Lords devotees. I find daily proof of the increasing & continuing wrong being done to the millions by our false de-Indianizing education. The foreign medium has made our children practically foreigners in their own lands. It is the greatest tragedy of the existing system. The foreign medium has prevented the growth of our vernaculars. If I had the powers of a despot, I would today stop the tuitions of our boys and girls through a foreign medium and require all the teachers and professors on pain of dismissal to introduce the change forthwith. I would not wait for the preparation of Text books. They will follow the change. It is an evil that need a summary remedy.
We, the English educated people alone are unable to assess the great

loss that this factor has caused. The sooner, therefore educated India shakes itself free from the hypnotic spell of the foreign medium, the better it would be for them and the people. http://www.gandhi-manibhavan.org/ gandhiphilosophy/ philosophy_education_aspergandhi.htm Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Scandinavian countries and many teach in their mother languages in their schools.
