China is located in the southeastern part of Asia and is roughly 9,706,961 kilometers squared in area. The Government that China is run by is a Communist state.The official language spoke in China is Mandarin, however Cantonese, Xiang, Min and Hakka are also commonly spoken. China is the most populated country in the world, with an amazing 1.33 billion people! C h i n a s g r o w t h ra t e i s approximately 0.87% and its death rate is roughly the same as Australia which is 6.77 deaths. In urban areas across China, you would find

about 382 million people, or about 37% of people who live in the largely populated country. The largest city in China is not its capital Beijing, it is Shanghai, another well known city to tourists and the local people which is located in the south of the country. Beijing is the capital of China and was the city where the 2008 Olympics were held. Beijing is recognised as the educational, political and cultural centre of the China. The city has a total population on eleven million. The city is constantly changing, because it is being

modernised. People are leaning towards motorbikes for transport, rather than cars to travel around the city. Very few countries around the world have the same uniqueness and beauty that China possesses. China has a One Child Policy, which was first introduced by Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping in 1979. The policy was created to try and control the population. The children who do survive their childhood usually live to an average age of seventy-five. Of this large population, approximately 94% can read and write with ease.

Chinese people are well known all around the world for their hard-working personalities and their good study habits. In China, most work in the industry sector. China has a booming industry, and this is where the majority of people work in China. A large amount of chinese can be found working in Agriculture, as farmers. However, not everyone has a job and earns enough money to support their families. Nearly forty-eight million chinese live below the domestic poverty line, accounting for 3.7% of the total population. Wealthier families in China have luxuries such as internet. Roughly 450 million chinese

can afford to have internet. In Australia the number of users of the internet is not as high because the population is a lot lower. Currently, around 17 million Australians are regular users of the internet. Money is a major use in China, as it is in any other country. China regularly imports and exports goods, in and out of the country. The official currency of China is: Renminbi. It is legal tender in mainland China, but not in H o n g Ko n g , Ta i w a n , o r Macau. It is issued by the Peoples Bank of China and its name me ans pe ople s currency.

Work in China

Mountains cover 33% of China and deserts cover around 28%. Although China is by far the worlds most populated country, much of its land is uninhabitable or near uninhabitable. The western half of the country is mostly desert, the central and southern areas of the country are surrounded by mountains and the northeast is heavily forested and reaches unbearable and bitter temperatures in the winter. China is surrounded by four different landscapes, which in theory protected the country from being invaded before planes, and

technology were invented. The barriers are: Mountains, Ocean, Deserts and Plateaus. The Himalayan Mountain Range, The Gobi Desert, The Pacific Ocean and many different Plateaus surround China, making it hard to access on foot. Most of Chinas tens of thousands of rivers flow eastward, towards t h e Pa c i f i c O c e a n . T h e countrys two longest and most important rivers are the Yangtze River, and the Huang He (Yellow River), which both travel along the Plateau of Tibet. More and more animals in China have been classified as

endangered due to the effect of human activities and n a t u ra l d i s a s t e r s . M o s t endangered species in China can be found in the national parks, or reserves. The key element to saving these poor animals is returning them to a safe environment. Nature in China

The Australian terrain well known for its is mostly low plateaus with deserts, rangelands and a fertile plain in the southeast. The Chinese terrain is quite different, consisting of Mountains, plateaus and hills which account for nearly 70% of Chinas total land surface. China has a broader range of landscapes than Australia, they also have many, many more people. The population density in China is 130 people per square kilometer. The Population density in Australia was last reported at 2.90 in 2010, according to a World Bank report published in 2012.

Oceans are one of the main landscapes that was able to prevent the country from invasion in its early years. The ocean that borders China to its east is The Pacific Ocean. The Ocean that borders its South-East is the South China Sea. The second longest river in China is the Huang He or the Yellow River. This river flows past Shanghai, and The Great Wall of China before emptying into the Bohai Sea. Chinas capital is located in the North-East of the country. On this side of the country, you will find the Russian and the Korean borders as well. As many as

fourteen countries border China. The Eastern and Southern half of the country, has a coastline and has numerous offshore islands. It is a region of fertile lowlands with most of the agricultural output and human population. The western and northern half of China is a region of sunken and has many plateaus, and the land is less fertile, therefore possessing less human population.
