Existing conditions:i.
A civil servant who was allotted a Government resident but he surrendered it on his own before
proceeding on leave, shall be eligible to draw House Rent Allowance from the date following
the date of actual handing over of the Government residence to the Estate Office.
ii.
House Rent Allowance is admissible to a civil servant if he is residing in a private house as owned.
by himself, his wife, relative or a friend
iii.
House Rent Allowance is not admissible to any one if husband and wife both are living together at
the same station in a Government residence allotted to one of them.
iv.
House Rent Allowance is not admissible to either husband or wife if any one of them has been
provided with a Government residence but both of them are still living in private accommodation.
v.
A civil servant is entitled to House Rent Allowance if he owns a house, which is under his
occupation, even if he is not otherwise eligible for Government residential accommodation
on the Estate Office pool in the S&GAD.
vi.
Un-married sons and daughters who are entitled to Govt.: residential accommodation but are
residing with their parents having been allotted a Govt: residence are entitled to House Rent
allowance subject to suspension of their title to Govt: accommodation which can be revived
from a date they choose not to receive the House Rent Allowance.
