A dish of meat, sh, vegetable, etc cooked with certain hot-tasting spices. [from Oxford Dictionary] Originally, the Kari (Tamil and Kannada words) means Ingredients, which is usually understood to mean vegetables, shes and/or meat cooked with spices with or without a gravy.
