The Seaside Police Department wants you to enjoy a safe, fun and happy Halloween! Below are a few safety tips to help insure your Halloween is a safe Halloween. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Consider organizing or attending parties at home, in schools or at community centers as alternatives to Trick or Treating Stay alert for any suspicious incidents and report anything unusual to the police department. Stay in well lit areas. Dont take short cuts and dont go into isolated areas. Wear reflective clothing and carry a flashlight, glow sticks, etc. Teach children to never approach a vehicle Teach children not to go inside homes unless they have your permission. Only approach homes that are well lit, inside and outside. Be familiar with the area you and your children will be traveling. Know the homes and the neighborhood child visits, and who is providing the Halloween treats to your child. Make sure a trusted adult, older child, or a parent accompany younger children. Make sure your child can easily see and breathe when wearing their costume. Make sure the costume is flame resistant.
