How to Pray Salatul Tasbih

The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, O Abbas, O my uncle (my chacha), shall I not tell you some thing that if you do it, then all of your past, and future sins, new and old sins, intentional and unintentional sins, big and small sins, hidden (secret) and open sins, will be pardoned or forgiven. It is to pray Salatul Tasbih. (Tirmidhi, Abu Dawood, Ibn Majah, Baihaqi) The hadith goes on to explain how to pray salatul tasbih, and I have rephrased the procedure to make it easier to understand. But first, I wanted to point out that Abdul Aziz bin Dawud said anyone with a desire for paradise should pray this prayer. Abu Osman Zahid said he had not seen anything the like of Salatul Tasbih that could get rid of hardship, sadness, grief, and depression. It is highly recommended that if you can, you should pray Salatul Tasbih every Friday, or once a month, or once a year, or at least once in your lifetime.

How to Pray Salatul Tasbih:

1. First, youll want to memorize the following tasbih or praise (its the third kalma tamjeed. Its also recited in Eid prayer): Subhanallah wal-hamdolillah wala elaha illal lah wal lahu akbar. Glory be to Allah and all praise be to Allah. There is none worthy of worship besides Allah. And Allah is the greatest. 2. Salatul Tasbih is 4 Rakats. In each rakat, in Qiyam, you will recite Surah Fatiha and any surah. Then recite above Tasbih 15 times. 3. Go to ruku, recite ruku dua: Soob-hana Rubb-bi yal A-dheem. Glory be to my Lord, who is the very greatest, and then recite Tasbih 10 times. 4. Stand up from ruku, recite Sami al-la hu li-man hamidah, Verily Allah listens to one who praises Him. Rubb-bana lakal hamd. O our Lord, all praises be to You. Humdun kathee-run tay-yi-bun mu-bara-kan feeh. Very many, pure and blessed praises be to You.

Then recite Tasbih 10 times. 5. Go to sajdah, and recite sajdah dua: Soob-hana Rubb-bi yal A-la. Glory be to my Lord, the most high. Then Recite Tasbih 10 times in sajdah 6. Sit in jalsah position. Recite jalsah dua: Allaah hoom-mugh-firlee, O Allah, forgive me, Wur hum-nee, and have mercy on me wah di-nee, and keep me on the right path, wa a-finee, and keep me healthy, wur zuQnee, and provide me with halal sources of living, waj bor-nee, and complete my shortcomigs, wur fa-nee, and make my rank high. Then recite Tasbih 10 times while sitting in jalsah position. 7. Go back down to sajdah. Recite sajdah dua, and then once again recite Tasbih 10 times while in sajdah. 8. Before standing up for for the 2nd rakah, sit down once again in jalsah position and recite Tasbih 10 times. **you will have now recited kalma tamjeed (Tasbih) 75 times in the first rakah. 9. Repeat above for the 2nd , 3rd, and 4th rakah. 10. At the end of the 2nd and 4th rakah, when you sit down for tashahud, first reciteTasbih 10 times, and then recite atahiyat and all duas as you normally would. 11. At the end of the 4th rakah, make salam, recite duas after salutation of prayer, and make dua. Note: Ibn Abbas (RA) use to recite the following surahs in qiyam. (It is only optional for you to recite the same surahs he did) 1st rakah: surah takathur (alhaq) 2nd rakah: surah Asr (wal asr) 3rd : surah kafiroon 4th rakah: surah ikhlas
