Friday session
Four phases of transferring 1. Discovery The question: At an international event you participate in, you get to learn about and discuss great ideas that you would like to realise in your own organisation. What do you need to discover about these ideas? a. Ask more information about the idea and experience to realise this idea in our own organisation. b. How this idea was realised in the organisation where it was pronounced. i. Tangible results ii. Personal story iii. Target groups iv. When it works and when not v. Improvements c. Break the idea down d. What is the idea, what is its purpose and what is its scale e. Reasons for the start f. Analyse it in its orginal form (within orginal organization) g. And then how do these pieces apply to my organization? h. MOTIQA!: Money Organisation Time Information/Communication Quality Actions (project management) 2. Processing The question: You have a great new idea for your organisation. Which steps can help you to prepare a good selling campaign of the idea within your organisation? a. First we must think deeper about this idea, clean up all information about it and after this make an interesting presentation which every one likes. b. Then we must learn more before going on, example which mistakes and never do them again and make perfect steps (plan). c. Make people asking about it you plant the seed d. Mobilize as many people as possible e. Attention interest desire acceptance f. Preparation then sell it i. Explain the cause, why I have the idea ii. Why is the idea great Goals Objectives iii. How are we going to implement the idea Time

Finance Resources (human, material...) g. Implement it in an already existing project h. Elevator pitch: Have it ready! (i.e. the short and to the point sales speech) i. Brief ii. Complete iii. Interesting iv. Useful v. Unique vi. Passionate vii. Innovative 3. Selling The question: What can happen when you are presenting your idea in your association, what could be the reactions, and what can you doabout that? a. Negative reactions: i. In general, people are scared of change, regardless of whether the change is for the better so change management is needed Who moved my cheese? ii. We dont want to listen to your idea then, use examples (peer to peer), show them whats in it for them (tell them why) iii. If you anticipate to be on this side you can be prepared to respond to the reactions in a way so you can get them on the other/positive side Be ready with the answers to the why and how questions of your audience and organisation/group b. Positive reatctions: i. They are (or can get) intereseted in the idea then we can gather resources to give a life to the idea very nice reactions ii. With a good reaction it is just to start c. We can discuss all ideas about everything, because maybe through discussion a new excellent idea can be born and this idea may be useful for all leaders 4. Implementing/realisation The question: What kind of actions would you put on your own to-do list for implementation of an idea after it has been accepted in the organisation? a. Learn more about topics connected to the idea b. Project process c. Involve people / human resources i. Job descriptions ii. Why iii. Whom d. All resources e. What to do and what not to do f. Be realistic but dream big

The process behind the idea practical info iv. Challenges? v. Details about the organisation it was done in Compare both MOs/NSOs, understand the reality of the organisation vi. Resources needed Financial People human resources Training needed vii. Timeframe viii. Contact person ix. Go to country discover more about the idea x. Report / evaluation xi. Is the idea answering some of your needs, why is it relevant to you? xii. What are we already doing about that need? xiii. Does it work with various target groups? 2. Processing The question: You have a great new idea for your organisation. Which steps can help you to prepare a good selling campaign of the idea within your organisation? a. Identify stakeholders b. Ideas on how to make it work c. Dont just have final plan, be open to changes = change management d. Support from others e. Pros and cons more realistic f. Lots of info and facts which support your idea g. Go to the right person in the organisation h. How to adress the cons identified i. Believe in the idea and be prepared for resistance j. Talk personally with different people i. Good and bad points ii. Convince them of the idea k. Write down the project to present it and discuss it in the meeting i. The need you adress with the project/idea ii. How iii. What do we want

Prepare yourself for questions that might come up but let the audience have the possibility to come up with the answers so that they can own the idea m. Elevator pitch n. Selling The question: What can happen when you are presenting your idea in your association, what could be the reactions, and what can you doabout that? a. Counterbalancing the reaction i. Positive: Enthusiastic Yeey! ii. Negative: Disapproving Boo! b. Who and why of the reaction i. Predict it beforehand so you can try to convince everyone c. Ideas based on personal feeling not logical i. Identify the main spider, take them seriously and adress the issue d. Good idea but needs changes i. Change can be good/bad ii. Stick to your idea but be open to changes e. Questions i. Have the answers (at least some of them) and all relevant information 4.
