1) This is a pair assignment and carries 60% weighting towards your final
grade.

2) Your report should be word-processed. The font should be Verdana. The font
size should be 10 with 1.5 spacing.

3) The report should not exceed three thousand (3000) words. 4) You are expected to maintain an electronic copy and paper copy of your
assignment. Please mention the exact word count on the front sheet of the assignment.

5) All sources of material should be fully referenced using Harvard style. 6) Any plagiarized work will be penalized. See the penalties in the Students
handbook sections 28 and 29.

7) If you do not submit the report or remain absent for the presentation, a grade of G (0) will be recorded and you will be deemed to have failed this part of the modules assessment. 8) Unauthorized late submission without a valid written extension from the
module tutor will not be marked and will be awarded a grade G (0) irrespective of the quality of the work. See student handbook section 18.5.

Small Business Finance Assignment 2 Towards 60% Weighting

Semester 1, 2012-2013
You have graduated in Accounting/Business and are now enriched with significant knowledge in the areas of Marketing, Advertising, Finance and various other areas necessary to be a good entrepreneur. In the light of the employment situation and the fact that you have the makings of an entrepreneur, you have decided to launch your own small business. Given the above scenario, you are required to write a Business Plan after surveying the local market in order to launch a business (50% weighting). The report should cover: Rationale for launching the business. Form of organization selected. Reason for selecting a location. PEST analysis of the economy and the Government support with rules and regulations to be followed for launching the business. Customer and market analysis. Self analysis and competitive advantage. Sources of finance selected by you with rationale. Staff plan. Projected financial statements for five years. Financial analysis based on the projection and sensitivity analysis.

Oral presentation: (10% weighting) The presentation will be in the form of an elevator pitch on the selected business plan during 6th or 7th week, covering various areas such as product, location, market, competitors, and financial outcome.
