New Solutions
CenterMind G+
Because Environment Matters Its not just hype anymore. The environment around us does matter. With data centers producing about two percent of global carbon emissions on average, even small variations in temperature, humidity and air pressure can significantly impact energy efficiency. The new CenterMind G+ accurately monitors the environment of power hungry data centers. This enables the conditions of the data center to be followed, helping to prevent further environmental damage. The RiT CenterMind G+ is an environment monitoring solution that offers round-the-clock, real-time visibility into the state of the computer room or data center environment. Monitoring the conditions of the data center results in proactive optimization of energy usage, which improves the environmental performance of the organization. Regardless of where the facility is located, an instant, automatic alert is transmitted should conditions change (such as a power supply failure, or air-conditioning malfunction) enabling a swift response to resolve the issue. CenterMind G+ hardware and software are built to provide maximum flexibility, according to each organizations monitoring needs. This may be monitoring one cabinet in a remote branch, or a medium-sized communication room, to providing a full comprehensive solution which includes provisioning data center equipment. Furthermore, RiT CenterMind G+ provides an additional security advantage allowing missioncritical sites and facilities to be monitored in realtime. With door sensors on rooms and cabinets, an instant indication is provided when an unauthorized person interferes in processes. An additional IP camera can take a snapshot of the intruder, helping in the identification and tracking of the occurrence.

CenterMind P+

When Power Becomes All-Consuming It is widely recognized that data centers consume a phenomenal amount of power. As data centers are growing larger, power continues to be a critical issue. For example, 1U rack switch with 24 Ethernet ports in continuous use will consume 2,190 kWh in one year (which will release approximately two tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere). RiTs CenterMind P+ provides a robust and flexible solution for properly monitoring and managing the power usage in the data center, from any location. This means, not only knowing how much power the data center is consuming as a whole, but discerning how much power each device is consuming at any one time. With a clear picture of each device and their power usage, the IT manager can act on any potentially problematic devices or deviances. Furthermore, with remote capabilities, a reboot can be initiated from afar, saving time and preventing further disasters from occurring. CenterMind P+ comes with hardware and software and offer countless other benefits such as: TOTAL DEVICE CONSIDERATION: Real-time power consumption monitoring capabilities track each device. COMPLETE DCIM SOLUTION: Gain a comprehensive DCIM without complex implementation, offering a single point of management for data center equipment, environment and power. COMPREHENSIVE PROVISIONING: Optimal provisioning capabilities through fast and complete consideration of power issues for both primary equipment and redundancy options. DISASTER PREVENTION: Immediately shows potential problematic deviances in power usage so action can be taken straight away, preventing disasters from occurring. REMOTE VISIBILITY AND CONTROL: Power can be managed remotely with reboots and more, from any location. A GREEN ENVIRONMENT: Considering power consumption in every aspect of the data center management means additional environmental benefits.

Fiber Optic trays for the Densest environments How does one make the most of a small space? High density is a top priority in many environments, but is a particular challenge in data centers. As the leading provider of intelligent data center infrastructure management (DCIM) solutions, RiT has once again met another industry need with the recently launched intelligent Xlight 4U fiber optic tray. This solution features the highest fiber optic density currently available, further expanding RiTs dominance on the intelligent infrastructure management (IIM) market. The addition of this new product has already contributed to RiTs success in securing significant data center projects. Recently, a data center customer was impressed by the trays ability to manage such a high number of ports in just 4U of rack space. He commended the design of the front tray, whose fiber management clips maintain order among multiple jumpers. Through the use of intelligent trays in combination with RiTs PatchView solution, the customer eliminated the need for manual documentation of the fiber optic channels, saving many hours which would have been devoted to the tedious task of tracking, marking and documenting each channel. The advanced fiber optic tray works simultaneously on three levels: cassette, port and end-device. The system identifies each cassette separately, and keeps track of its physical location in one of the trays sixteen slots. Port connectivity includes management of the Xlight Jumpers between the trays ports. In addition, the systems auto discovery determines which fibers are connected with which IP-based end devices, and maintains the information in an accurate database. RiTs 4U fiber optic tray supports 16 LC or LCMPO cassettes, each with 12 LC duplex adapters (24 fibers), giving it a total capacity of as many as 384 fibers. The back of the tray is designed in such a manner that enables it to easily work with high numbers of fibers. In addition, MPO connections, increasingly popular throughout the industry are provided in the back of the LCMPO cassettes to facilitate efficiency and reduce installation time.

LeaDInG InSuranCe COMpanY In ISraeL Israels leading insurance and finance company, Migdal Group, decided to deploy RiTs solutions. RiT will install Copper Cat6A in four office buildings. This is no small feat as Migdal Group holds insurance and pension arrangements with many agencies, agent houses and companies which handle investments, credit and real estate. The Group manages assets worth 406 billion, with 86,000 employees across 331 companies worldwide. The project, which has been in the planning stages for roughly three years, will consist of 5,000 ports per hospital. PatchView will be instrumental in controlling the installation, implementation and management of the project. Each hospital will have about 30 cabinets with four cabinets per floor. These will link to the data center with two backbones made with OM-3 12 wires, fiber optic OM-3 cables and horizontal cables, which are Category 6. Furthermore, the surgery rooms and other specific rooms could contain additional cabinets connected to the communications room. The project is expected to take place over the next few months, beginning in Prato and culminating in Massa.

State aCCOuntInG MatterS RiT secured a three year contract with the State of Israels Ministry of Finance, Accountant General to install and manage its intelligent infrastructure. RiT will supply Copper Solutions including Cat6A STP Connecting Hardware and Cat6 STP amongst all government offices. RiT worked closely with additional IT consultants and integrators to enable the government to leverage its investment in their network infrastructure. petrO ChIna ChOOSeS rit FOr thIrD prOJeCt epV installed in Kunlun Bank, Beijing Petro China installed RiTs EPV solution in a third deployment in one of its subsidiaries, Kunlun Bank in Beijing, China. Kunlun Bank is a joint-equity commercial bank which has several branches across the region. Petro China has additional RiT solutions managing its headquarter office buildings as well as the Petro China Data Center. The project entailed installing EPV to manage over 5,000 ports. One of the key benefits that attracted the company to install EPV is its complete control of all the infrastructure, cabinets, cables and panels and all other related equipment connected to the network. EPV is the ideal product we were looking for, said the CIO of Kunlun Bank, who commended the ease of use even from remote locations. We look forward to using this new technology and seeing what further solutions RiT will bring us.

enhanced Fiber Optic performance The range of SMART Fiber Optic Solutions, which includes Trays and Cassettes, has been updated and is now available in OM-4 instead of OM-3. The change does not affect the fiber channel performance but rather improves the total channel loss. It is fully backwards-compatible with the existing OM-3 products. Please refer to the updated product information for further details.

tuSCanY hOSpItaLS, ItaLY Saving Lives Saving time February will see the deployment begin of PatchView in four new hospitals in Tuscany, Italy - in Prato, Pistoia, Lucca and Massa. In a bid to improve the health system, Tuscany is building four new buildings of three floors each, increasing the number of hospital beds available in the region.
