BREAK IT DOWN NOW !

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ?
This course is designed to give a really good technical grounding for all your students. We start with a presentation which will talk all the students through the technical theory and technical practices we use today. Then we move on to the practical side, this is where your students get the chance to get theyre hands dirty. This course can be done in a couple of different ways. We can either take a school day, or teach this course over about 5 separate lessons.

A QUICK WORD

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN COME ALONG ? HOW MUCH IS IT GOING TO COST ?

This is a course specifically designed to give as many students as possible the chance to get to grips with some technical practices and issues. We usually teach about 15 students. But remember our favourite word. Tailored! We can discuss your requirements and make it work! So, as you can appreciate, this course is a little more expensive than our teach the teacher training, as we are teaching more students and we take a little longer to do it. This course starts from around 250. Remember, we tailor all our courses to you and your school, so this is just a guide price. Discuss this course with us today so we can work out exactly what you need and want.

STUDENT BASICS MORE DETAIL

This course is a lot more detailed when compared to our teach the teacher course. We want to give your students a rock solid grounding in technical theatre and live events. We start off with the Theory. We talk your students through everything they need to know to work effectively in your school venue. We start off with Lighting and discuss current fixtures and the various types we use in theatre today. We then discuss how these can be used and applied into a school environment. Moving on, we discuss various control methods and protocols such as dmx and artnet. Safe rigging and working practices are next. We want to make sure your students are as safe as they can be. We then have a quick chat about lighting paperwork. Sound is next on the agenda where we discuss such topics as various microphones and speakers. Where is the best place to put a lapel mic and why? what is the best way to get a sound effect sounding right. How do you understand cuelists and commands, and a quick look at various cables and connections. We then move on to a quick section about roles in the theatre. After all this, we move on to put what we have learnt into practice. A demo of some new equipment and a rundown of how to utilise your theatres equipment to its full potential. This course is delivered through a mix of presentation and practical work, and is completed with a short quiz resulting in a really cool certificate! We like to think that we are here to help, and we dont want to leave you and your students in the lurch once youve had your certificates. Thats why each student gets access to our special online forum where you can ask us any pressing questions. Teachers and those who teach also get access to our special trainee support no. Its just our way of helping you even further. We want to make our courses as fun as possible and we think we do this quite well. (After all what could be more fun than pushing a load of light up buttons) The difference is that with our training, youll know what your doing, when you push them. As with all our courses we make sure that we dont give you some generic training. we try and teach you things that you will be able to do. We also look at some new technology so that if in the future you get the opportunity to expand whats on offer in your venue, youll be able to make an informed decision about which led fixture, Scroller or new microphones you should buy and why. We like to think our pricing is very fair and gives you the best possible value for money. Remember your quote is specific to you and your students, meaning that the price we include in our making your mind up pack is the price youll pay. No ifs, buts, or maybes :)

STUDENTS TRAINING MORE DETAIL

This course is by far our most intensive training course. We want to pass on as much as we can in the time we get to spend with your students. In comparison to our Students basic training, this course will spend even more time looking at the theory and work on a more compact level to get the most out of every student we encounter. This course also has some special benefits that we will mention later . A lot of what Drama students work is based around is getting the best mark possible in the exams and this fills a large section of school life With more and more drama students looking at the option of technical theatre as a practical drama exam choice at gcse and a levels, its more and more difficult for teachers and those who teach to manage the training and guidance of regular drama students with the new breed of technical theatre students working along side. We want to help, and so we are offering the Students Training course. Starting with the basics of theory and moving on to practicle work and the teaching of skills that will help students gain a better grade and understanding of technical theatre. Looking more in depth at topics such as Lighting Design and Sound Design and looking into the ever increasing world of av design in theatre, we pass on knowlege that widens creativity and expands the possibilities in your school or college venue. We start off by getting to know the students. This doesnt take long but is a key part of the training. After this, we move onto the theory . In this section we cover a large variety of topics in detail and in length. We understand a key training objective is to keep students engaged and we do this throught the use of regular practical moments intergrated into the theory. We spend time with each and every student talking and walking them through a wide range of skills and experiences needed to prepare for and stage a succesful event or production. The aim is that at the end of this training, students will be able to work as a team or individual to stage large productions in a professional manner. Lighting and sound desks can be complicated. After a series of group demonstrations on the key elements and more in depth elements of your lighting and sound consoles., we work in small teams to give hands on teaching to your students. This course covers everything a student needs to expand in technical theatre and is a must for schools and colleges looking to provide a balanced education for acting and creative arts students and those who work backstage.
