Changes Abound
By Dr. Michael Moon
The society in which we live today is nothing like that my generation grew up in. My generation was born to those of the WWII era. We grew up in a world that was filled with some of the most influential changes of a century, changes in science, music and the arts. Those changes in science ranged from putting man into space to great advancements in medicine. In music, we saw those who would change the culture of a time with their songs and music. Changes brought on by the Beatles in rock and pop, country singers such as Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, and those groups such as the Statler Brothers, Oak Ridge Boys and Alabama, Motown Singers such as the Supremes, Temptations and the Jackson 5, and Gospel singers such as the Inspirations, the Seago Brothers, and many more that changed the face of music which began in the early years of the 20th century with The Carter Family, Hank Williams, Sr., Frank Sinatra and the those big bands such as Glen Millers Band, the Dorsey Brothers and many more. We saw gasoline prices go from 29 cents a gallon to the current $3.40 a gallon. A loaf of bread went from 8 cents a loaf to over $2.00 a loaf. We watched milk prices go from 49 cents a gallon to $3.00 a gallon. The year I was born my dad made $48 a week and brought home $42. The rent was $4 a week and the light bill was $1.40 a month. The natural gas bill was 60 cents a month. Our phone number was Plaza949 and it was a party line. The second ring was our call. My dad could buy used cars for $25 to $50 dollars each. All we needed to bring to school was a pencil and paper, the school provided everything else. I could get a lunch ticket for a week for 25 cents. I remember mom and dad took us on a vacation to Panama City, Florida in 1964 and they only took $100 for the whole trip which lasted a week and came home with money. The motel on the beach only cost $3 a night. The couple was very nice. I remember he worked as a postal worker in Dothan, Alabama and would commute. In our world today, that hundred dollars might pay for a good meal on that trip today. Here is something to ponder over also. In 1969, when my grandmother passed away, it cost $350 for the funeral including the casket. Today that same funeral would cost over $10,000. Greed, my friends, has feed the souls of those born from our generation to create the society which we live in today. Many times I feel like an outcast and wonder in amazement at the drastic changes which have taken place in such a short period of time. We said yes sir and yes maam. If we answered our parents the way children answer parents today we would expect a good spanking. Today if you spank a child, you will likely go to jail. And that child will not learn the respect we had for our parents. Take a good look around and see what we have created. Its not a pretty picture. And we wonder why God is sending messages like hurricanes, earthquakes and droughts. You would be surprised at the young folks of today who do not believe we have a God and the Bible is just a book of fairy tales. Those young people better learn to wise up and get a hold upon their lives and bring God into it before it is too late.

With Your Help, the Henry County Police Department Wants to Recreate the Past
The current Henry County Police Department was formed in 1991 as a response to explosive population growth that only recently abated with the economic downshift of the past few years. Although growth has slowed, interest in the origins of policing in
~2~

the county have increased to such a level that the police department has decided to set out on a journey of self-discovery. With the help of citizens, the Henry County Police Department wants to recreate the past. Not to be confused with the Henry County Sheriff, who has done an excellent job of researching and documenting the history of that elected office in Henry County (CLICK HERE), the Henry County Police Department is looking for help in preparing a timeline of its history prior to 1991. Early badges and patches from retired officers and families have surfaced that hint at an existence in the 1960s and prior to midcentury. Artifacts and anecdotal evidence suggest that the county police department may have existed in some embodiment as early as the 1940s or before. However, information is sparse and research through the countys own documents is limited to 1991 and later. The Henry County Police Department is requesting the assistance of local residents, many of whom have lived here for a lifetime, who have personal ties to, or relics from, a bygone era that could find a showcase in this endeavor. Photographs, agency public information releases, print newspaper articles, names, dates and photos of the chiefs of Police, badges, patches, uniforms, training certificates, commendations and the like, earned by early department members are all being sought by the Department. The goal is to formulate a timeline of official police enforcement in Henry County, outside of the Sheriff and municipal agencies. In addition to tangible records, the Department seeks personal or civic stories prior to 1991 involving any command staff, patrolmen, detectives, and other personnel, precincts, incidents, cases, trials, promotions, liaisons, meetings, and contracts, and any activities of the many who served our county by wearing the uniform of the Henry County Police Department under that name, or any other. Coupled with the artifacts of the era(s), these oral histories can help illustrate a compelling cross-section of the historical and social fabric of Henry County through the guise of the Henry County Police Department. If you are able to assist the Department in this project and/or would like more information, please contact either Major Mark Amerman at MAMERMAN@CO.HENRY.GA.US or (770) 288-8277 or Researcher Kimberly Monast at KMONAST@CO.HENRY.GA.US or (770) 288-8133. Please DO NOT send unsolicited tangible materials without contacting us so that we may protect and be accountable stewards of your property.

VOTE YES TO AMENDMENT 1

DO NOT ALLOW FEAR MONGERS TO INFLUENCE YOUR VOTE!
Under the proposed Constitutional Amendment, "A Charter School SHALL: "Operate under the terms of a charter between: The State Board of Education AND "NOT include religious or for profit schools". So, to my conservative friends you don't have to worry about your kid being taught Sharia Law. Yet, opponents of the Amendment are throwing out scare tactics that have no meaning under Georgia's proposed amendment. The following excerpt was taken from a mass email delivered by one of our conservative, Tea Party leaders. It is shameful that this type of appeal is the best these opponents can come up with. It is no different than Joe Biden telling Black Americans the Republican Party will put

them back in chains.

THIS ISSUE OF THE HENRY CITIZEN DEDICATES A LARGE SPACE TO THE TERRORIST ATTACK IN BENGHAZI, LIBYA. THE ACTIONS AND INACTION OF OUR COMMANDER IN CHIEF AND HIS TOP ADVISORS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. MANY PEOPLE HAVE JOINED IN OUTRAGE AND DISGUST. THIS CONFUSION AND NEGLIGENCE, SOME SAY COWARDLY TREACHERY, BETRAYS EVERY TENET OF HONOR AND INTEGRITY SHOWN BY THE CONSULATE STAFF, CIA OPERATORS AND US NAVY SEALS IN BENGHAZI.

Benghazigate: General Ham: No Order to Protect Consulate

Were not dealing with anonymous sources here. This comes from AN INTERVIEW WITH REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMAN JASON CHAFFETZ who sits on two Homeland Security subcommittees relaying the responses from General Carter Ham heading up the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) who had direct responsibility for the situation. General Ham told Chaffetz that the forces were available, but that no order to use them was given. Defense Secretary Panetta had claimed that the refusal to use force had come from him, General Dempsey and General Ham. General Ham appears to have broken with that story and is taking no responsibility for the decision not to bail out the consulate and the Navy SEALS. There have been rumors that GENERAL HAM HAS BEEN FIRED OR FORCED OUT. There is no way to confirm them at this point until they come from more reliable sources. Even major sites are running things based on internet forum rumors or speculation with nothing behind it. And thats not the way to go. Its the way to sabotage the investigation of this story which is to proceed from known information and tie it together with reliable reports. That said, Hams premature departure raises certain questions, as does his willingness to dissent from the official story. Panetta tried to pass the buck to the generals. General
~4~

Demspey only lightly touched it. Ham seems to not want to touch it all. Since the decision was made by Panetta and possibly Obama, thats the right thing to do. We are done with the narrative that no forces were available or could have reached the site in time. Generals Demspey and Ham are now both on record as saying that the forces were available, but did not get used. The fallback story is that there was a lack of intel, but there was actually plenty of intel from the consulate that had been there and even in declassified documents provided assessments of the Islamist militias, from the two SEALS in the fight and other consulate personnel. And during a rescue operation, intel is always going to be limited. The issue was almost certainly a refusal to come in, guns blazing, into Benghazi, a Muslim city, for fear of destabilizing Eastern Libya and upsetting Muslims with an American show of force. The decision was made to rely on the Muslim Brotherhoods Feb 17 Brigade to help evacuate the area, even though Ansar Al-Sharia, the militia leading the attack, was a splinter group of Feb 17 and serious questions remain about the complicity of Feb 17 personnel in the attack. Benghazigate is now a focus, but it should be remembered that there have been countless Benghazigates in Afghanistan, where US forces were denied air and artillery support while under fire. That should be the real focus of this conversation. What happened in Benghazi is what has been going on in Afghanistan for some time. Its the outcome of the Obama Administrations CVE and Hearts and Minds program that puts Muslim sensibilities first and American lives last.

U.S. intelligence officials this week turned over intelligence reports to Congress showing what officials at the CIA and other agencies knew and when. U.S. officials who have reviewed the material say it shows confusion during and in the days following the attack. Members of Congress have complained that the White House and the intelligence community stuck to the analysis that an angry mob started the attack long after it had become more clear that it was an organized militant operation. ~ AP/ October 26, 2012

Stevens Reported 'Targeted and Discriminate' Attacks Before 9/11

Reps. Darrell Issa (R-CA) and Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) have released State Dept documents that show Ambassador Christopher Stevens clearly expressed concerns about security months before his death.
The documents, 166 pages in total, contain a cable signed by Stevens and dated Aug 8. In that cable, Stevens wrote of how Benghazi had teetered from "trepidation to euphoria and back" through a "series of
~5~

violent incidents." And he took pains to point out that the incidents were not spontaneous outbursts, but "organized" attacks. Stevens put it this way: "What we have seen are not random crimes of opportunity, but rather targeted and discriminate attacks." Another cable that bore Stevens' signature was dated Sept 11 -- the very day on which he was later killed. In this cable, Stevens expressed his concern about "growing frustration" in the Benghazi area and "growing problems with security" around the consulate. Stevens explicitly mentioned the Libyan police and security forces that were guarding the U.S. consulate. He said those forces "were too weak" to keep the site secure. These cables and the concerns expressed in them were nothing new. In late June, following attacks earlier that month, Stevens had written that the attackers "seemed to be targeting the Christians supervising the management of the consulate" and that "Islamic extremism appeared to be on the rise in eastern Libya." In other words, months before the Sept 11 attacks took place, spontaneous uprisings were ruled out. The attack on Benghazi was "targeted and discriminate." State Department lied in 10/9 Benghazi briefing: "Nothing unusual during the day at all outside."

Reporters who visited on Oct. 26 to prepare a story for Dubai based Al Aan TV found several ash-strewn documents beneath rubble in the looted Tactical Operations Center. The two unsigned draft letters are both dated Sept. 11 and express strong fears about the security situation at the compound on what would turn out to be a tragic day. They also indicate that Stevens and his team had officially requested additional security at the Benghazi compound for his visit -- and that they apparently did not feel it was being provided. One letter, written on Sept. 11 and addressed to Mohamed Obeidi, the head of the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs' office in Benghazi, reads: "Finally, early this morning at 0643, September 11, 2012, one of our diligent guards made a troubling report. Near our main gate, a member of the police force was seen in the upper level of a building across from our compound. It is reported that this person was photographing the inside of the U.S. special mission and furthermore that this person was part of the police unit sent to protect the mission. The police car stationed where this event occurred was number 322." The account accords with a message written by Smith, the IT officer who was killed in the assault, on a gaming forum on Sept. 11. "Assuming we don't die tonight. We saw one of our police' that guard the compound taking pictures," he wrote hours before the assault. The State Department declined to comment directly on the documents, citing an ongoing investigation. Multiple warnings about security threats were contained in Ambassador Stevens own words in multiple cables sent to Washington, D.C., and were manifested by two prior bombings of the Benghazi compound and an assassination attempt on the British ambassador, the congressmen wrote. For this administration to assume that terrorists were not involved in the 9/11 anniversary attack would have required a willing suspension of disbelief. At the State Department briefing [on October 19th], spokeswoman Victoria Nuland declined to comment on published reports alleging that an official working for the Central Intelligence agency had informed the Obama administration on September 12 that the Benghazi murders were an act of terrorism. Read analysis by Dr. William Bennett: What really happened in Benghazi?

Late last week, Jennifer Griffin of FOX NEWS REPORTED that CIA operators caught in the attack in Benghazi requested military backup but were denied by higher headquarters. If true, this would exhibit fatal inaction and negligence on the part of the administration or the military's chain of command, or worse, some sort of cover-up. On Friday, President Obama was asked directly by Denver's KUSA-TV's Kyle Clarke whether our forces were denied backup during the attack. The president dodged the first question. Clark followed up, "Were they denied requests for help during the attack?" "Well, we are finding out exactly what happened," the president RESPONDED. "I can tell you, as I've said over the last couple of months since this happened, the minute I found out what was happening, I gave three very clear directives. Number one, make sure that we are securing our personnel and doing whatever we need to." This is different from what the president said in his Rose Garden speech on September 12, when he mentioned nothing about securing personnel the evening of the attack, or what he SAID to "The View" or Univision in the weeks after the attack. We now know that President Obama met with Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Vice President Joe Biden in the Oval Office at 5 p.m. ET on the night of the attack. We also know that the FIRST E-MAIL announcing the attack came in at 4:05 pm ET, about a half hour after the attack started, and that there was a DRONE OVERHEAD monitoring the attack and diplomatic security official Charlene Lamb was monitoring the audio feed of the attack in real time in Washington. Asked to explain the inaction on the part of the Pentagon, Panetta SAID, "The basic principle is you don't deploy forces into harm's way without knowing what's going on, without having some real-time information about what's taking place."

~7~

Contrary to Panetta's claim, we know with certainty that there was real-time information coming into Washington and the Pentagon during the attack. We are therefore left with two conflicting explanation's for the administration's inaction -- either the president's directive to secure our personnel wasn't heeded, or he didn't exactly give such a directive. After all, as former Marine captain and former assistant secretary of defense, Bing West, has so well chronicled, directives of such serious importance would be recorded and sent throughout the chain of command. The administration insists that aid was not declined. "Neither the president nor anyone in the White House denied any requests for assistance in Benghazi," National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor told YAHOO NEWS this past Saturday. William Bennett was U.S. secretary of education from 1985 to 1988 and director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy under President George H.W. Bush. Gen. Ham contradicts Panetta on Benghazi General Carter Ham told Congressman Jason Chaffetz who sits on two Homeland Security subcommittees that the forces were available, but that no order to use them was given. Defense Secretary Panetta had claimed that the refusal to use force had come from him, General Dempsey and General Ham. General Ham appears to have broken with that story and is taking no responsibility for the decision not to bail out the consulate and the Navy SEALS. No explanations from the White House, but General Ham and Admiral Gaouette were relieved of duty. A source inside the Pentagon informed Times reporter James Robbins that Gen. Ham wanted to send Special Forces units to help Americans under siege in Libya despite orders from Sec. Panetta to stand down. Ham was supposedly relieved of his command by a junior officer just before Ham was to order the rescue mission. On Oct. 18, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and the Army announced that Pres. Obama "had nominated GEN. DAVID M. RODRIGUEZ to succeed Gen. Carter F. Ham as the commander of U.S. Africa Command. Gen. Ham retired after nearly four decades of distinguished military service. On 27 October Obama ordered the immediate removal of Rear Admiral Charles M. Gaouette from his command of the powerful Carrier Strike Group Three (CSG-3) currently located in the Middle East. Admiral Gaouette was relieved on allegations of inappropriate leadership judgment.

Brian Strickland: Finishing The Drill In His Campaign For State House.
The race for State House in the newly created District 111 has become a heated battle. Brian Strickland, the Republican candidate, has been hit with thousands of dollars of false and vicious attacks from Barack Obamas allies at the Democrat Party. They have accused him of things that are not only false, but they are legislative actions that Brian obviously could have had no part in. The attacks stem from the reality that Brians opponent and the Democrats do not have a plan for Henry County families, and their record has made life harder for our families. Their only option has been to lie and mislead.

On the other hand, Brian Strickland would be a real asset to Henry County in the State House. Brian would provide us with the effective leadership that we need and deserve. Brian has a common-sense plan to make Henry County stronger. Being born and raised here, Brian wants Henry County to remain a place where kids grow up, graduate from college and return home to raise their own family. Obviously, Brian understands a big part of that is making sure that Henry County has good, high-paying jobs. He knows that with effective leadership, Henry County can become an economic hub of metroAtlanta. In the House, Brian will work to reform our tax code and reduce taxes, eliminate burdensome government regulations and improve our schools so we can become more competitive as a County as a State. Brian knows, like we all do, that Henry Countys future is at stake. We are at a crossroads. Without the right leadership, we will follow the same path as our neighbors in Clayton County. Brian will be an effective leader who will work with law enforcement to stop the influx of crime and tirelessly champion efforts to attract new businesses and high-paying jobs. While the Democrat Party and their candidate have launched vicious attacks, Brian has worked hard to deliver his positive plan for a stronger Henry County directly to the voters. Thats why momentum for Brian is continuing to build. If you want an effective leader who will work to make Henry County stronger, the choice is clear. Vote Brian Strickland November 6th.

5 Reasons to Vote Yes on Charter Amendment

1. Parents are the most aware of their child's needs and when they're not being met in the current environment.
~9~

2. This amendment only reinstates what worked well in GA before the GA Supreme Court struck it down in 2011 - an alternate authorizer, outside of local boards, just like 32 other states have in place. 3. GA's economic development depends on improving educational outcomes - start up charters have a proven ability to do that. 4. Parents with means already have school choice, parents without do not. Let's offer options that can break the cycle of generational poverty. Think Clayton County, Dougherty County. Would you let your child go to school there? 5. The high drop out rate and highest in nation incarceration rate are highly related - just a small part of the cost to society when we fail to educate and graduate our students. 1 of 3 students in GA public schools drop out. ~~~~~ Too bad we cannot all see this issue from the same viewpoint. I, too, would love to have school choice, vouchers, charter schools, and educational savings accounts. But we do not. And I don't think we will unless we start somewhere. THE HUGE FALLACY that BetterGeorgia wants us to accept is that local parents and local boards make independent decisions about spending our tax dollars. Living on the mother's milk of federal and state funding, local boards adopt policies and create environments consistent with maintaining that cash flow. THAT IS NOT LOCAL CONTROL. Without Amendment 1 the local BoE can kill any application - and the state board will invariably uphold the denial. All we get with this amendment is to overturn the lawsuits of 2010. The creation of the state commission, without concern that local boards will again file suit, allows an appeal process. Some folks say Locally elected "representatives of the people" - the school board - are SUPPOSED to hold the power.

In truth, the power, the choice, the tax funding, the decisions MUST rest with parents for the benefit of their children. Parental Choice is the only real local control.

The Georgia Lottery

I've worked most of my life in the private sector but I also worked for a city government, a county government and a state government. What I've come up with after working in these government places, "is that the city didn't have as much money to waste as the county didn't have as much money to waste as the state". I would like to see the resumes of those who applied for the position of president and CEO of the Georgia Lottery and were not accepted. As a common sense approach I would have picked someone with "Lottery" experience for this $300,000+ position. So, the Georgia Lottery has hired Debbie Dlugolenski Alford to be the new president and CEO of the Georgia Lottery. She's is currently the chief financial officer and director of the Office of Planning and Budget for the state of Georgia. Since she served three years on the Georgia Lottery board of directors, I
~11~

guess that gives her "Lottery" experience! Not a bad move for someone who goes from a salary of $154,999.92, according to the 2011 Open Georgia web site, WWW.OPEN.GEORGIA.GOV/STA/VIEWMAIN.AUD to over $300k. I have no problem with people advancing but is the experience needed for the salary being paid there? One Board member resigned during the hiring process, saying she felt the board was being pressured to hire the governor's budget director to run the lottery. Remember, these people work for us, the taxpayers. I suggest more people start visiting the website I referenced and see if you think we are getting our moneys worth.

Emmy Winning Former CNN Journalist, Amber Lyon Blows The Whistle The central issue is Media Controlled by The Obama Administration, and more specifically CNN as a VERIFIED tool for propaganda and disinformation. Within this Canadian video report you will find footage of a CNN story on Egypt and Mohammed Al Zawahiri. It was produced by well-known CNN Journalist Nick Robertson. The entire video is excellent, but the pertinent aspect is at the 1:30 mark. In the
PREVIOUS THREAD

I asked two central questions. The SECOND QUESTION was:

Why would CNN [or CNNi] refuse to air the NICK ROBERTSON REPORT with Muhammed Al Zawahiri (brother of Ayman Al Zawahiri) that clearly shows the Egyptian uprising was 100% in response to his call for protests for release of the Blind sheik on 9-11.? Why would the most trusted name in news, hide the report showing the truth, and instead allow the false narrative to be sold, by them, to the American electorate? Amber Lyon provides the answer(s). CNN never aired the Nick Robertson report in Egypt because it completely contradicted the Obama Administration, and Hillary Clinton State Department, Egyptian assertions. In short, it proved they were lying BIG TIME. The refusal to air the real reasoning for the Egyptian Embassy assault was intentional protection of President Obama specifically orchestrated by the CNN News group. Specific, intentional, lying. Apparently they have a history of this no-one knew about. UNTIL NOW. She says she was ordered to report fake stories, delete unfriendly stories adverse to the Obama administration (like the Nick Robertson report), and construct stories in specific manners while working for the left-wing network.

CNN is paid by foreign and domestic Government agencies for specific content. Additionally CNN and CNN International are also paid by foreign governments to avoid stories that are damaging, and construct narratives that show them in a better, albeit false, light. Amber Lyon is a three-time Emmy winning investigative journalist and photographer. She accuses CNN of being fake news. Back in March 2011, CNN sent a four person team to Bahrain to cover the Arab Spring. Once there, the crew was the subject of extreme intimidation amongst other things, but they were able to record some fantastic footage. As Glenn Greenwald of the UKs Guardian writes in his blockbuster arti:

In the segment, Lyon interviewed activists as they explicitly described their torture at the hands of government forces, while family members recounted their relatives abrupt disappearances. She spoke with government officials justifying the imprisonment of activists. And the segment featured harrowing video footage of regime forces shooting unarmed demonstrators, along with the mass arrests of peaceful protesters. In sum, the early 2011 CNN segment on Bahrain presented one of the starkest reports to date of the brutal repression embraced by the US-backed regime.
Having just returned from Bahrain, Lyon says she saw first-hand that these regime claims were lies, and I couldnt believe CNN was making me put what I knew to be government lies into my reporting.
