Project Requirements
PPE possibly required
Set up traffic management as per traffic authority requirements. Sweep application area free from all loose particles. Ensure area is dry and not polluted with oil, grease, diesel etc. (Pic 1) Mark out the area to be sealed with chalk etc. Note the BRP Road Patch should extend 100mm beyond the edge of the defect or area requiring sealing. (Pic 2) Size/shape the BRP Road Patch to match the marked out area by perforating the paper side with a Serrated Tracing Wheel. (Pic 3) Fold the sheet together on the stone side to create an open joint and then pull the sheets apart along the open joint. Observe safe manual handling techniques. 2 Supervisor Equipment: Chalk/Marking paint or like Measuring tape Broom for Sweeping Brush/Broom for Emulsion Application A perforating tool also known as a Serrated Tracing Wheel Emulsion CRS Cationic Grade Sand Appropriate amount for task Spill kit (Appropriate size liquids stored) Disposal Bags Parent: 1/6

JOB STEPS STEP 2 - ADHESION Agitate the emulsion (shake the container), to ensure it is mixed well. Apply the emulsion evenly to the marked out area (Pic 5,6,7) & the back of the Road Patch (Pic 4) using a block brush, broom or Roller. Ensure coverage is even, leaving no uncovered areas or puddles of emulsion. Check the edges to ensure that they are evenly covered. Allow the emulsion to break on the pavement & the back of the Road Patch i.e. emulsion turns from brown to black and becomes very tacky. Ensure gloves and eye protection is worn during application.

STEP 3 - POSITION
Place the first Road Patch onto the emulsion treated area paper side down, aggregate side upwards. If further Patches are required simply butt the edges of the BRP Road Patch tightly together by pushing (kneading) the BRP Road Patch with a foot to ensure a neat/tight fit. Do not overlap the BRP Road Patches at the joins. Repeat the process until all the patches have been placed. Observe safe manual handling techniques. Worker
