Parent-Teacher Conferences
Thank you very much for coming to the Parent-Teacher Conferences. Miss Park, Mrs. May, and I were greatly impressed by the students detailed presentations. We hope you enjoyed seeing your childs progress as well.

Students will take home this game sheet. Please help your child review for the test using this sheet. Memory work: Psalm 51:10-12 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Language Arts:
Spelling:
This weeks spelling words have the /ou/ and /oi/ sound: appoint, enjoyment, rejoice, outside, poison, about, choice, moist, ground, allow, destroy, joint, found, tower, employ.

Units:

Reading:
We are continuing with our Daily 4. Please encourage you child to build their stamina by reading 20 minutes at home everyday.

We will continue to practice using the latitude and the longitude to locate places around the world. Students will also learn some geographical terminology and create their own map.

11/8 Parents in Prayer meeting (8:30-9:30) 11/9 Memory verse test 11/9 Math test (Unit 3) 11/13 Bible test (Unit 2) 11/21 Kurihara Elementary students visit us 11/22 Half-day schedule (Noon dismissal) 11/23 No school (Thanksgiving Break) Joyce Inouye, a specialist in learning disabilities from California, has offered to give a presentation to CAJ parents on Wednesday(Nov.28) evening, at 7 p.m. in the multi-purpose room. Mrs. Inouye, a Japanese American, will share a biblical perspective of encouraging your children with their education. The talk will be applicable to all parents and especially to those whose children have unique learning needs.

Writing:
We will move to the second writing trait, organization. Through various mini-lessons, students will learn to write catchy leads, transitions, and closing sentences.

Math:

We have finished unit 3, but we will spend 5 - 10 minutes of each math class to review things that were covered in unit 3. Students will take the end of the unit test on Friday, Nov. 9. Our next unit is Unit 4: Decimals and Their Uses. This week students will learn to read, compare, order, and convert fractions to decimals, and vice versa.

Bible:

We will go over the study guide and review the unit content through a game called I Have, Who Has?
