    Old 1000W magnetic ballast and 1000W lamp fixtures are inefficient, a simple retrofit of the existing fixture with a 575W or 600W DHID retrofit ballast and 575W/600W lamp saves you an instant 50% energy, and gives you more stable and sustained lighting output over time (reducing your lamp change expenses drastically). DHID systems can be dimmed, saving you a total of 70%+ energy over the old 1000W magnetic/lamp system. The chart illustrates the typical light output with the old 1000W magnetic/lamp over time, note that even though the 1000W lamp is no longer performing as originally specified (and has fallen below the level of the DHID 575W/600W), the system continues to consume 1200W (input power including energy losses). In comparison, the DHID 575W/600W system maintains its original light output throughout the extended lifetime of the 575W/600W lamp, which is the 'correct' amount of light required for the application. This same scenario applies to all existing HID lamp systems, such as old 400W magnetic ballast and 400W lamp fixtures.
