Domestic Violence Destroys by Regina Weston

Domestic Violence is when two people get into an intimate relationship and one person uses a pattern of coercion and control against the other person during the relationship or after the relationship has terminated. It often includes physical, sexual, emotional, or economic abuse. No one should have to stay in a situation that affects their safety. The truth is that domestic violence destroys homes in addition to taking lives. Victims that are left standing are usually women and children seeing as no one is exempt from abuse. It affects all walks of life, race doesnt matter, gender doesnt matter, and economic status does not matter, violence doesnt discriminate. Anyone can become a victim of domestic violence simply by falling for the wrong person. Therefore saying that it can never be me, Im too smart to get into an abusive relationship is an unfounded statement, for most abusers dress as sheep but are really wolves in sheeps clothing. And for those that find themselves in a domestic violence situation often find it difficult to escape. For anyone seeking answers and change they can call the National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1800-7997233 (SAFE) or (TTY) 1800-787-3224

scared mentally and emotionally, suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. Children that witness domestic violence or are victims of it are at a greater risk to growing up becoming abusers themselves. Its called learned behavior. For some children violence is all that they know. Its imperative that all communities lend a helping hand towards protecting

According to the NC Coalition Against Violence, 53 Carolinians were victims of Domestic Violence that resulted in death.

I Made It As A Single Mother by Margaret Smith

A single mother, with the task of raising four children isnt an easy job. But I did just that with the help of God. I always kept flour, mill, rice, potatoes, beans and peanut butter in the house. Just because youre a single mother, raising children, it doesnt mean that your life is over. You are still special and never think otherwise. Love your children and take care of them to the best of your ability. There are parenting classes for those that need it. There is the bible which instructs parents on how to rise up children.

I felt like pulling my hair out many days.

For a number of years I was on welfare which is a government program that was created in the 1930s during the Great Depression. This program was established to help families and individuals in need of aid, which had little or no income. Welfare allowed me to put food on the table and to keep a roof over my familys head. I learned to shop wisely. I looked for sales when it came to shopping for food and clothing for my children.

And when it came to purchasing clothing and shoes for my kids, I went to stores that had a layaway plan, usually, shopping for one child at a time. Once my children grew up, I was able to go back to school. I obtained a Degree in Social Science. With this degree I acquired a job as a social worker in which I work for 24 years.

With God on your sidesingle mothers you can accomplish anything. Keep your head up and never give up on life.
