CHRONOLOGY OF THE ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED BY THE CENTER FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT JSC SERBIAN RAILWAYS (September 1, 2010 September 1, 2012)

joint stock company Serbian Railways, as the largest transportation company in the country, has decided to observe the European Union legislation in the domain of sustainable development. On September 1, 2010, a new organizational unit was launched: The Center for Sustainable Development at the initiative of Mr. Duko Bajin, PhD, Deputy Director General responsible for strategy and development. Divided into three main activities (Environmental Protection, Energy Efficiency and Quality Management) and headed by Mr. Dragan Marinkovi, M.Sc, Director, the Center has faced with a number of tasks of which many have been induced by accumulated activities carried out by the inspection services. The field covered by the Center for Sustainable Development is deemed to be one of the best organized legislative customs in the Serbian legal system, taken over by EU and harmonized afterwards. Insofar the activities conducted by the Center for Sustainable Development strengthen strategic orientation of the Government for as quick and successful accession to the European Union as possible. The activities and plans carried out in the last two years are listed below. Given two criminal charges and preventive elimination of very high fines (about 60.000!), governing the procedures with respect to waste management, as well as acting in energy domain, the Center has shown that, in addition to organizing and giving professional contribution regarding selffinancing, outstanding, international railway gatherings, it has perspectives in numerous further engagements leading to quick and immediate savings in the society. We do trust that below listed activities that have been realized, completed and planned projects, recordings on international communication and communication within the society, offers an overview to the reader concerning the current status of the Centers activities as well as forthcoming tasks that are to be done.
