1A Elements, Mixtures and Compounds

The purpose of this assignment is to: Enable you demonstrate your understanding of the terms elements, mixtures and compounds and demonstrate your ability to distinguish between each.

Scenario: You are an Education officer for a large chemical company which has just opened, you have been asked to prepare posters, explaining the difference between elements, mixtures and compounds for a meet the neighbors open day display. You need to prepare a poster which explains the differences between elements, mixtures and compounds. Task 1 You need to define the terms element, mixture and compounds. You need to draw molecular diagrams and an example of each. You need to briefly describe how you know that it is an element, mixture or compound To achieve the merit criterion you need to describe the differences between an element, mixture and a compound, you could represent this as a comparison table. This provides evidence for P1 & M1 Task 2 You need to produce a poster explaining the differences between elements, mixtures and compounds. You need to choose 4 examples i.e. air, iron sulphide etc and explain using your poster how you know if the substance is a mixture, compound or element This provides evidence for D1
