Anticipates and addresses readers concerns and counter-arguments. g. Provides a sense of closure to the writing.

The use of persuasion is all around us on a daily basis, it is easier to persuade someone if you have a firsthand knowledge of what you are writing about. A variety of techniques can be used to engage and persuade readers.

Related Misconceptions:

The best persuasive essays are often written by people who oppose what they are writing about. Essential Questions
Overarching Questions:
1. How do you know you are on the correct side of an issue? 2. What makes you right in an argument? 3. How is the persuasive essay different from other genres of writing? How is it the same?

Topical Questions:
1. What ideas did the author use to persuade you in his essay? 2. What concepts can you use to persuade others in your argument? 3. Do the key ingredients for a successful persuasive essay change based on what the writer is trying to persuade the reader to do? 4. What does the term "Devil's Advocate" mean and how might it be important in writing a persuasive essay? 5. What are some techniques that could be used to write a persuasive essay geared toward elementary school students dealing with the topic of international money management?
