ELECTIONS OF THE NEW MEMBERS OF THE COORDINATING COMITTEE OF UNA TURKEY YOUTH SECTION
New members of the Coordinating Committee of the UNA Turkey Youth Section were elected on October 20, 2012, Saturday. According to the results, Ms. Ekin Erdoan, a person whom we know very well in previous Coordinating Committees has been elected as the chairperson of the Youth Section. Mr. akan Korur, as one of the most active members, is now the vice-chairperson of the Youth Section. Mr. Sayra Kololu, student at Bakent University and Ms. pek Aksakal, student at Bilkent University, are now on in charge of projects, whereas Ms. Nimet Nihan Kaya, who is the first intern of the UNA Turkey, has become the head of PR. Mr. Mertcan Cengiz, as an accountant, is going to deal with money and we certainly believe assets of the Youth Section are safe with him. United Nations Association of Turkey Youth Section conduces to endeavor for materializing the principles of United Nations and to development/strengthening of youth activities by raising awareness on specific issues.

International Peace Day was commemorated on September 21, 2012, Friday at Ankara Botanical Park, in Peace Bell Ceremony, held by the United Nations - Turkey and the Turkish - Japanese Foundation. In the ceremony, Prof. C. Tayyar Sadklar, President of the TurkishJapanese Foundation, Mr. Shahid Najam, Resident Coordinator of the UN Turkey and Mr. Keisuke Yamanaka, Japanese Charge D'Affairs made speeches. Ms. Evrim Bakaraa, Former Member of the Coordinating Committee of the Youth Section read translations of speeches in Turkish and English. The United Nations Association of Turkey has been supporting the event, which calls upon world leaders for sustainable peacemaking, in various levels.

The traditional Welcoming Day of the United Nations Association (UNA) of Turkey-Youth Section was held on November 3, 2012. Members of the UNA of Turkey - Youth Section provided necessary information about the Association and the Youth Section including the information regarding activities of the Youth Section. Thanks to this event, we would like to say Welcome! to our almost 30 new members. After the Welcoming Party, UNA Turkey Youth Section announced its first meeting of the new season. There was a debate about what kind of activities would be carried out in the new season, in which members with different ideas expressed their thoughts. As a result of debates, the UNA Turkey Youth Section determined its heaping event-based calendar including carrying out charity cocktail event for International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on 25th November, participating in new exchange projects, visiting an Embassy in the context of the Young Diplomats Project and more. According to activity calendar, the UNA Turkey Youth Section will continue to carry out significant activities as usual. Continue to follow us if you want to participate in our upcoming activities!
