Nanostructures (ICNS4)

12-14 March 2012, Kish Island, I.R. Iran

the NavierStokes and renormalization group K model equations were solved. The reactor worked in batch mode, including two phases; slurry and solid (Barium Sulphate crystals). Barium Sulphate was chosen due to its rapid reaction kinetic and frequent applications. The condition with such details and large scale size is new and had not studied before. Population balance equations considering nucleation, growth, aggregation and breakage were used to approach and CFD method based on finite volume method was applied with fluent. Method of moments was used to solve population balance equations; results show the time of reaching to a specific size, moreover, particle size distribution (PSD) on a virtual axis within reactor and mixing effect on the PSD. This paper presents a carbon nanotube field effect transistor (CNTFET) that has been studied based on the Schrdinger-Poisson formalism. To improve the output characteristics, a new structure for CNTFETs is proposed. This structure is simulated and compared with the conventional structure. Simulations show that this structure has superior characteristics, both for digital and analogue applications. Energy scavenging, which is a process of capturing ambient mechanical energy and converting it into useable electricity, with low-dimensional materials has been demonstrated in this work. Hence, ZnO material is of interest due to it has high potential in several applications including piezoelectric. The ZnO used in the analysis in this work has been produced by the chemical reactions through the low temperature process, which is easily controlled its crystallographic structure. Its related piezoelectric coefficients are the d33, d31 coefficients. From the finite element analyses for the nanorod and nanobelt of ZnO material, it is possible to capture a vibration surrounding them and deliver a corresponding output voltage in a range of 200-400 mV. For a suitable load impedance, the harvested power is able to feed some ultra-low power electronics such as biomedical sensors. Small-scale power harvesting systems with suitable energy scavenging designs that incorporating a low-dimensional structure are, therefore, promising as well as challenging. In this study, a modified local composition model proposed by Pazuki (2009) has been developed in order to obtaining the viscosity of nanofluids. The proposed model is based on the Wilson-NRF local composition model. The modified model is coupled with the Eyring equation in correlating the viscosity of nanofluids. The model has two adjustable parameters between fluid and nano particle. The adjustable parameters are obtained for Cuo-water and Al2O3-water binary mixtures. The average absolute deviations for the proposed model show that there is good agreement between the experimental viscosity of nanofluids and the results obtained from the local composition based model. Keywords: Nanofluid; Local composition model; Viscosity; Gibbs energy model.
