UN Decade of AcCon
UN General Assembly declared the period 20112020, commencing May 2011, as the Decade of AcCon for road safety. The goal is to stabilize and then reduce the forecast level of global road fataliCes by increasing road safety acCviCes. Global Plan for the Decade of AcCon to primarily focus on naConal and local level acCons. Countries encouraged to implement acCviCes according to ve pillars. Many countries have already adopted NaConal Road Safety AcCon Plans. More informaCon at: hRp://www.un.org/en/roadsafety/
Pillar 1: Road Safety Management Pillar 2: Safer roads and mobility Pillar 3: Safer vehicles Pillar 4: Safer road users Pillar 5: Post-crash response

ADB Sustainable Transport IniCaCve

ADB is commiRed to proacCvely assist DMCs to develop more sustainable transport. In 2010 ADB has established STI to build up a porUolio of projects to support sustainable transport. STI idenCed four emerging needs: Regional cooperaCon and integraCon; Urban transport; Climate change and energy eciency, Road safety and social sustainability. STI will be implemented through specic acCon plans in each focus area. More informaCon at: hRp://www.adb.org/documents/sustainable-transport-iniCaCve- operaConal-plan

Mainstreaming Road Safety in ADB OperaCons

Seven areas for acCon have been idenCed as being criCcal for establishing a systemaCc, high quality and sustainable approach to assessing road safety in ADB operaCons: A: Strengthen internal road safety capacity B: Develop and operaConalize procedures, guidelines and related tools C: IdenCfy opportuniCes for scaling up road safety in DMCs D: Mainstream and strengthen road safety components E: Establish standalone road safety pipelines Co-ordinaCon and Partnership F: ParCcipate with MDBs, donors and UN agencies in delivering UN Decade of AcCon i.e Partnership and co-nancing of road safety projects G: Mobilize internaConal organizaCons as partners for road safety in Asia and Pacic region
