Manchester Township authorized the county road commission to spend up to $32,000 to install culverts at Buss Road at theire regular meeting on Nov. 13. After matching funds are used, the township will pay about half that cost. The council also provided $2,000 in funds for transportation service provided by the Manchester Area Senior Citizens Council, as it has done in past years. If the Ann Arbor Transit Authority operated on a shoestring like the Manchester one doesand it does a good jobI might have been more supportive, Supervisor Ron Mann said. The council heard a report about the River Raisin Watershed Council from trustee Sybil Kolon.
It has cut costs by moving into free office space provided by the county, and will cut membership dues. An executive committee is being reconstituted, and will include Jim Mann as chair. Manchester Township had been an integral part of the group, but then declined to rejoin. Now dues for the township will be reduced from $700 to $800 to about $250. Ill go on record right now as supporting rejoining, Mann said. Treasurer Judith Huber told the council that tax bills will go out Dec. 1. They will include six special assessments, including ones for capital and operating expenses for the recycling program that will be assessed on all households outside Manchester Village. The village has contracted with a different recycling
program. Three assessments will be made on behalf of the county water resources commission, for maintenance of the Iron Lake, SharonManchester and Cooley Tile drains.
