The Star Solutions iCell COMPAC EV-DO IP-RAN is a complete outdoor CDMA2000 (3G) base station providing up to 10 watts RF power output. The unit is passively cooled, avoiding the need for fans or air conditioning, and is specifically designed for low power consumption. The iCell COMPAC EV-DO IP-RAN is ideal for broadband network overlay applications deployed over the existing CDMA2000 1X network, and for broadband network underlay applications that can provide an existing EV-DO macro network additional bandwidth capacity in heavy data-use areas such as city centers and hotspots. It provides an excellent alternative to operators faced with the challenge of finding new deployment sites. The iCell COMPAC EV-DO IP-RAN is also well-suited for rural deployment, where a distributed RNC and PDSN network configuration can offload data traffic directly to the IP network, avoiding backhauling to a central site. With its outdoor enclosure and low input power requirements, the COMPAC is a natural for use with alternative energy sources such as solar or wind powered systems when commercial power is not readily available. COMPACT INTEGRATED DESIGN The iCell COMPAC IP-RAN can be configured with an integrated RNC, or RNC/PDSN to allow data traffic to be offloaded to the nearest IP network. The iCell COMPAC IP-RAN can be easily transported and installed. It is ruggedized to IP-65 ratings and therefore can be mounted outdoors on pole tops, walls or building rooftops suitable for deployment in almost any geographical location. Optional mounting kits are available.
