Title of the project: Share Issue Management System Introduction

Most of the companies are adhering Information Technology to ease their businesses today. In this sense Software Development Companies are developing software solutions to fulfill market needs. The project will initiate after analyze the demand of a Computer based Share-Issue Software Solution. Not only that but also the government of Sri Lanka is influencing local companies to move for a share issue at the end of the year 2011. Most of the companies are used to do the share-issue process manually. But with the growth of the market and the business, they have to face many problems. Hence they had to think about a fully automated computer based system. Thus I have chosen to develop computer based system to provide advanced facilities for the users as well as for the management as a solution for current problems faced by them.

Problem
The growth of the market, business and the competitive edge, leads companies to migrate for new computer based software solutions to provide its clients efficient and effective quality service all over the world. Share trading is one growing approach that has been given much attention in the recent past. It has become a market trend. There are over one million people already registered at Central Depository Systems (CDS), The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has 250 companies representing 20 business sectors and 21 licensed brokers. additional 75 companies will come from listing in the near feature to boost liquidity and increase the proportion of shares regularly traded by offer portion of its ownership of the company to the public by welcoming investors to invest on their shares, which provide a level of playing on the field by enabling small and large players, the investors to enter the market. There is no other computer based software solution implemented to full fill the market demand that address Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) new rules and regulations which affected from 1st of January 2011, yet. Most of the companies do not have a proper system to manage their own share issues. The existing manual systems of most of companies are inherent with many shortcomings and constraints. Inability to manage documents, difficulty of finding out transaction details, lack of decision making support, inability to analyze the information which are from any part of the world are the main limitations of the current manual system. Currently most of the organizations use programs such as MS Excel to process their share issue data and functions. That is a very complex process and companies faced many difficulties with that. Hence they had to think about an automated computer based system for manage their share issue processes.

Purpose solution
Issuing shares of an organization will not only affect the financial status of a company but also it will expand the market gain. The process of issuing shares of an organization must be carried out with great concern within a limited time. Major drawback is there are no proper systems to address these critical requirements and the lack of supply for demand which makes customer satisfaction. Share issue management system initiated as a result of analyzing the demand and issues faced by organizations. The existing manual systems of most of companies are inherent with many shortcomings and constraints. Inability to maintain profile, manage documents, difficulty of finding out transaction details, lack of decision making support, inability to analyze the information which are from any part of the world are the main limitations of the current system. Proposed system will, reduce the distance between issuers and its investors. This browser based Software Solution provide advance facilities for the investors as well as company management by enhancing performance and adding new features like dash boards , summary reports , status reports, email/SMS notifications. This project is about replacing the current manual system with an automated web based system as the solution for the current problems.
Objectives of proposed project:

To improve the efficiency of the business by developing a useful, highly available, platform independent, computer-based Share Issue System. Provide different privilege levels to users according to the level of authority in order to control the system. Facilitate to link all stakeholders and work in a global environment within the company. Enable to maintain share related data efficiently and accurately. Reduce the manual operations like calculating allotments for oversubscription / under-subscription, creating reports in order to avoid the time and resource wastage. To accurately check the current status of the Share Issue at issuing period

Critical functionalities for proposed project:

Stakeholder registrations. Application entry Calculating allotments for oversubscription / under-subscription System Administration Understanding the Allotment process and Issue basis. Understanding decision rules. Identify the proper programming technology for developing the functionalities of the project, efficiently and accurately.

Methodology
The proposed computer-based share issue management system will designed using the Object Oriented concept and design patterns. Unified Modeling Language will use in the analysis stages of the project. Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 will use to implement the system in .NET language with the help of ASP.net technology and IIS sever in Windows environment. System will develop according to the layered architecture with the support of SQL server 2008 backend.
