TheTennesseeHigherEducationCommission(THEC)islocatedinNashville,Tennessee,andhasthe abovereferencedPolicy,Planning,andResearchAnalystpositionavailable.

THEC was created for the purpose of coordinating and supporting the efforts of postsecondary institutions in the State of Tennessee. Primary activities of THEC include setting the longrange direction of the states higher education system by crafting the Public Agenda; recommending fair andequitablefundingamongpublichighereducationinstitutionsofTennessee;reviewingacademic programs for approval; recommending and monitoring operating and capital spending; recommending tuition and fee levels for the two state higher education systems; and serving as a provider of independent data analysis and information to inform higher education policymaking. ReportingtotheDirectorofResearchintheCommissionsPolicy,Planning,andResearchdivision,the individualinthispositionisresponsibleforpreparingandpublishingstatutorilyrequiredreportsand otheranalysesonarangeofhighereducationtopics;facilitatingthedispersionofinformationand researchtothelegislature,systems,externalagencies,andotherconstituencies;administeringthe SREBAcademicCommonMarketprogramfortheStateofTennessee;andoverseeingtheapproval andauditofpublichighereducationoffcampuslocations. TheResearchandPolicyAnalystmustbeabletocommunicateresearchfindingsclearlyinwritten, graphic,orverbalpresentations;meticulouslyauditexistingmetricsanddatadefinitionstoensure accuratereporting;paystrictattentiontodetail;anddemonstratetheabilitytoprioritizetasksand alignthemwiththedivisionsgoalsinanenvironmentofcompetingdeadlinesandchanging priorities. TheidealcandidatewillpossessamastersdegreeinPublicPolicy,HigherEducation,orrelatedarea; twoyearsofexperienceasadata/researchanalyst,includingpolicyanddataanalysisspecificto highereducation;knowledgeofdataanalyticprinciplesandeducationpolicyperspectives; demonstratedexperienceconductingquantitativeanalyses;proficiencywithnationaldatabases, includingtheIntegratedPostsecondaryEducationDataSystem(IPEDS)andtheCensusAmerican CommunitySurvey;advancedproficiencywithMicrosoftExcel;proficiencywithdatamanagement, includingSQLServerdatabasesoftware;andproficiencywithdescriptiveandinferentialstatistics.
