    PrendergastPTOMeeting Thursday,March1,2012 Mr.DiPalmaopenedthemeetingat6:32pm.HeintroducedthemembersofthePTOand theirprospectivepositions(LorriShortell,PresidentRoseMarieSaleh,TreasurerJan Stevens,Secretary).Mr.DipalmastatedTransparencyandAccountabilitywhenhe beganspeakingaboutthenewPTO.Heexplainedthatnooneonthecurrentboardis responsiblefortheactionsthathaveoccurred.Mr.Dipalmaturnedthemeetingoverto LorriShortell. Lorriintroduced herselfasthenewPresidentofthePrendergastPTO.Shereviewedthe Treasurersreport(copiesavailabletoattendees)andexplainedwhyourbalanceiswhat itis.Shenotedthatthereis$27.50remainingintheaccountaftershecleanedupand reinstatedour501(3)cstatuswithstateandfederaltaxboards. LorrinotedshewasinasimilarsituationatMead(PTOissues).Shesaidthatweneed theparentshelptomakethiswork.

    Thereisabinderintheofficewithinformationanda suggestionpageisavailable.Updateswillbepostedandsuggestionswelcome.She wantstomakePTOmoreopenandencourageeveryonesparticipationandhelp. Lorrithenwentthruthebylaws.Wedidnothavebylawsinplacepreviously,buthave themnow(copieswereavailabletoattendees). Lorrithendiscussedourfinancials.AnewbankaccountwasopenedatPeoplesBank. Thereisnodebitcard,onlychecksthatneedtwosignatures.Anymoneycollectedwill gointotheschoolsafeuntiladepositcanbemade. Allmonieswillbecountedinthe school,administratorswillreview,andtwopeoplewillbringtothebankfordeposit. TherewillbeNocashreimbursements.Aformmustbefilledoutandsignedforevery expense.Norefundwillbeissuedafter45daysofpurchase/receipt.Mustgetexpenses inatimelymannerandfilloutproperpaperworkforreimbursement.Wearetryingto haveabetterpapertrailwithchecksandreceipts.Wewillhaveamonthlytreasuryreport andreviewbankstatements.WewillopenstatementsatPTOmeetingsinfrontof everyone.Aparentaskediftheycouldstillsendincashforfundraisers(i.e.BookFair). Cashwillstillbeacceptedandchangegivenforfundraisers. Lorribroughtupthetopicoffuturefundraisers.Rightnow,wearelimiteduntilwe receiveour501(3)cinthemail.However,therearesomethatarenobrainersandcanbe done.Forinstance,TheFundingFactoryrecyclescartridges.Wesendthemthe empty/oldcartridgesandtheyreturnachecktous(between$5$25)dependingonwhat issent.Nofeeforus,noshippingcost(collect),free. SteveSoboleskidiscussedautilityfundraiserthrustarenergy.$10perpersonthat switchesover.Youkeepthesameutilitycompany,justchangeenergyproviderata lowerrate.Wantstohaveprizeforchildwhogetsmostpeopletochangeover(xbox). Nosignupfee,freetojoin.

    SalHanaiffromtheDadsclubattended.HestatedthatheandtheDadsclubsupport thePTO100%.Heisgoingtogivemoniesintheiraccounttotheschoolforfundayand fieldday(around$2000).Anyremainingmonieswillbeputtowardsfieldtrip.Dads clubandPTOwillbeworkingtogetherasaunifiedforce.


    th Mr.ApicellamentionedhavingamovienightMarch9 forthewholeschool.Theyare goingtodoaninschoolsurveyandseewhatmoviethekidswanttosee.Theywillsell snacks,drinksandpossiblypopcornfor$1ifDomGolia(foodserviceprovider) approves.AnsoniaFoodServicehastoapproveallandanyfundraisershavingtodowith food.Allandanydonationsarewelcomed.

    LorrimentionedthatthepositionofVicePresidentforPrendergastPTOwasopen.One parentsuggestedthatSalHanaiftaketheposition.Anothermentionedthatyouneedto beonthePTOforoneyearpriorinordertobeeligibletojointheexecutiveboard.It wasdecidedthatthiswouldbetableduntilthenextPTOmeeting.Anotewillbesentout andwewillfigureoutwhatdayisbesttoholdourmonthlymeetings.Example:first Thursdayofthemonth(exceptthatwewouldreceivebankstatementsonthefirstofthe month,soitmightbebettertoswitchweeks).Monthlymeetingdatealsotabled. DeeTothgaveherreportregardingboxtops.Wemade$738sofarthisyear. LynnFragergaveherreportregardingCampbellssouplabels.Wemade1400ptssofar andMr.Apicellaislookingthruacatalogforitemstopurchasewiththem. KeriDiazgaveherreportregardingCokecodes.LastyearPrendergastmade1700pts andshepurchased1000pencilsforteachers.Thisyearwearealreadyat1800ptsand climbing. SalHanaifdiscussedanAnsoniameetingregardingthetown/schoolbudgetwiththe parentsandurgedthemtoattend. Mr.DiPalmaendedbythankingtheparentsforbeingsosupportiveandforattendingthe meeting.
