Cristian Rodriguez September 27, 2012 Period 5 Students Sleeping In Class (Student Interview)

What are the factors or the causes for students sleeping in class? Well, some students fool around at home in the afternoon. Then, if they have time, they will do their homework late at night. Others just prefer to be on Facebook during the late hours of the night. Should teachers tolerate students sleeping in class? Why or why not? Teachers shouldnt tolerate students sleeping in class because then what is the whole point in teaching if you have students not paying attention to the lesson. That indeed is very ridiculous! What measures then a teacher should take in order to stop students sleeping in class? Teachers indeed should take severe measures in order to stop this sleeping epidemic from spreading. They should for example give detentions or put them in the spot. What can students do then in order to stop sleeping in class? Students can either leave Facebook to a side and dedicate their homework early in order to finish early. In my case, I wouldnt do that because I know how to manage my time well. What are the consequences for sleeping in class and how can it affect your future? Sleeping in class deprives students from obtaining all the information that they need either for future tests or projects. Then, most of them have bad grades for the majority part. Well, I dont really know to what extent it can affect me but I can infer that it might create bad habits of being lazy and that can affect you if youre thinking to go to college. Can the students parents be a factor, a reason for students sleeping in class? From what I know yes because they either demand their child to work and support their home necessities through a part time job. Others in demand them to take care of their younger siblings, not letting them complete their homework. Recent research studies have indicated that teenagers need at least 8-10 hours of sleep. Do believe this is true, applying it to students who have AP classes? Certainly not, most AP students get loads of homework, losing hours of sleep in order to complete their work. In my experience, since I took 2 AP classes last year, I slept until 3 p.m. doing homework. What do you think about this sleeping issue here at Animo Inglewood, have you seen students frequently sleeping in class?

Its kind of funny now that you mention it because ever since I been in this school, I've seen one specific person who I guarantee he takes a nap at least for 5 minutes in every class. Well I'm not going to mention his/ her name on the spot but I can say its funny because he/ she gets in trouble and never learns his lesson
